How do you remove the large piece which goes from the radio across the passenger side. On the pictures, it looks like it has 4-5 screws from the rear of the piece. Do you have to take off out the inside of the glove box to get at the screws or is it held on by retaining clips?

Any other pointers to remove the instrument bezel as well would be great...plan on trying to remove it this week. Manuel states to take of the steering wheel plates up and bottom. Should you remove the radio bezel first, always see people claiming the right corner of the instrument bezel is broken becaue someone tried to take that off without removing the radio bezel first.

Thanks,

there are pal nuts holding the plate above the glove box, it will be easiest to remove the golve box liner to get at them

tips for pulling the gauge cluster would be drop the steering column down and unhook the speedo then pull the cluster out a little and un hook the wires carefully make sure the connection on the alt gauge are in good cond they can cause fires.

Another tip, I was able to pull all the wires off of my 68 cluster from underneath or the side as I made progress.

The headlight switch wiring "harness" had a clip or clips on the side that had to be pryed out a little with a small screwdriver to remove it from the switch. Same with the vacuum hoses which have metal side clips that need to be pulled out a little to free the "block" from the switch.

I know that I had to free up the left side of the radio bezel at the very least, but can't remember if it had to come all the way out or whether it was needed only for re-installation of the dash cluster and not removal.

Thanks,

Any trick to getting off the reverse screw behind the gauges...the one on top between the clock and speedo seems real difficult to get at.

If its a 68 & it has the fratzog or bullseye medallion installed, you wold need to carefully pry out the medallion to gain access to the screw....
