I got this in an e-mail today. Not sure how accurate it is, but still...

HOW BIG IS WAL-MART?

1. At Wal-Mart, Americans spend $36,000,000 every hour of every day.

2. This works out to $20,928 profit every minute!

3. Wal-Mart will sell more from January 1 to St. Patrick's Day (March 17th)
than Target sells all year.

4. Wal-Mart is bigger than Home Depot + Kroger + Target + Sears + Costco +
K-Mart combined.

5. Wal-Mart employs 1.6 million people and is the largest private employer.

6. Wal-Mart is the largest company in the history of the World.

7. Wal-Mart now sells more food than Kroger & Safeway combined, and keep in
mind they did this in only 15 years.

8. During this same period, 31 Supermarket chains sought bankruptcy
(including Winn-Dixie).

9. Wal-Mart now sells more food than any other store in the world.

10. Wal-Mart has approx 3,900 stores in the USA of which 1,906 are
SuperCenters; this is 1,000 more than it had 5 years ago.

11. This year, 7.2 billion different purchasing experiences will occur at a
Wal-Mart store. (Earth's population is approximately 6.5 billion.)

12. 90% of all Americans live within 15 miles of a Wal-Mart.

The only thing it left out was how Wally World's managed to help turn China into a wealthy country with no scruples. ::)
May they go out of business within the coming year.

Oh & Merry Christmas. hehe ;D

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

If you got it in an email then surely it's well-researched, double-checked, and absolutely true! :eyes:

Don't know the accuracy of the numbers, but there was a special on the History Channel (I think) a couple of months ago.  There are so many of the goods sold at Walmart that the output of one city is about 70%+ for Walmart and a sea port was build to accommodate all those goods being over here.
Heck, if a sea port in China is shipping 70% of the goods to the USA for Walmart, that's a mighty big number.

I love that statistic.

I look at it like this...
How many excavators, truck drivers, pavers, brick layers, electricians,
painters, laborers, iron workers did those 3,900 stores employ when
they where being built?   :shruggy:

I have seen that movie and I agree......it did make me sick. I try to avoid "China-Mart" as much as possible. And not just because of their ties to China, but because of their business practices. :icon_smile_angry: :nono:  :Twocents:

A few years back I was the project manager for the electrical on one of their large distribution centers in central Washington.  We were required to have all of our safety / warning signs printed in bi-lingual so the non-english speaking laborers would not kill themselves.  :brickwall: :brickwall:  Bob
