I got to looking through my latest Summit Racing book, and found a few interesting things before I started pricing up more expensive things..... Anyway, I'm basing this on that 440 Stroker build that I have on another thread, so.... Anyway, here's what I had decided on:
Distributor: Mopar Performance electronic adjustable vacuum secondary http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=DCC%2D3690432&N=700+4294925143+4294839065+4294881256+400172+4294908110+4294881252+4294840062+115&autoview=sku

Coil: MSD Blaster 2 http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=MSD%2D8202&N=700+4294925143+4294839065+4294890813+400122+115&autoview=sku

ECU: MSD 6 AL http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=MSD%2D6420&N=700+4294925143+4294839065+4294925127+400122+115&autoview=sku

Spark Plug Wires: MSD 8.5mm Super Conductor http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=MSD%2D31313&N=700+0&autoview=sku

Spark Plugs have still yet to be determined.....

Now here's the comparison stuff, and of course, there are other things listed, so.....

Coils: http://store.summitracing.com/egnsearch.asp?N=700+4294925143+4294839065+400304+4294890813+4294891681+115+4294890811

ECUs: http://store.summitracing.com/egnsearch.asp?N=700+4294925143+4294839065+400304+4294925127+4294908364+115+4294908395

Spark Plug Wires: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=SUM%2D889004&N=700+4294925143+4294756594+400304+4294908110+4294908395+4294787083+4294864905+4294840062+115&autoview=sku

So, what's yalls opinion on these "other possibilities" and such? Would you leave the original stuff the way it is, or is some of the other stuff worth looking into. If wanted, I can try and scan the book, two pages, and post them b/c the give a comparison between there stuff, MSD, Pertronix, and a few other different companies stuff.... I thought it was interesting, heck I may go ahead, scan it, and see what it looks like being scanned, and if worth posting, I'll post it all....

Hot_Rodder

I don't know how this will come out on this page, but it's worth a try.... I scanned the page # 69 in the Nov - Dec 2007 book, so.... Maybe you all will be able to read what it says at the top.....

Have you looked into the Procomp or Wysco Ready-to-run distributors, these are just like the H.E.I set-ups  so you can leave out the extra wiring, ballast resistor, wiring harness and ECU, you just need a coil, connect 2 wires and is set to go. Manicini racing sella them for about 120.00 and from what I've been hearing they are very good. I just bought one for my SB but haven't installed it yet. The one in the post with the pics from Summit is what I'm refering to, good luck.

I looked at Mancini racing, the first distributor, under HEI was this: http://chucker54.stores.yahoo.net/maenheidi2.html only one problem, it's for SB only.... So I lookd at these: http://chucker54.stores.yahoo.net/bileldis.html They start at $226 and go up.... And then the last one was these: http://chucker54.stores.yahoo.net/mabidi.html they are $232 and up.... Which one were you refering to? The only, IMO, HEI that I saw was for SB. Maybe I'm looking at the wrong thing? :shruggy:

Anyone else? :shruggy: This is a big block car, so....

I use the MP distributor with an MSD 6al and an msd blaster coil. Can't comment on the Summit ECU because i've never used one. It looks to have some nice features though.  :yesnod:

On Mancini's web site just type in the search, pc7007 and there it is, 129.00. Its called a Ready-to Run distributor but its for a 440 so to put it in your 383 you would need the extension collor, good luck.

Good point, only thing is, my "383" turned out to be a 361 :brickwall: :flame: :RantExplode:. So, the B motor, has movedup to a 440 Block, since a whole nother build....

Maybe it's time for me to be the "lab rat" or something? Hopefully someone will get some of the stuff to begin with, and I'll learn from there stuff.... I don't know. I e-mailed S.R. about there stuff, and am awaiting there reply..... Gonna be about a week or so.. Figures, for what ever reason, they are a little slow on the turn around time when it comes to answering questions that come in on e-mails, then again, I have no idea how many e-mails they get..... I like there digital set up, with the buttons (lol) that you can adjust a lot of stuff with.... Then again, I may be trying to go down a road I may not want to.... Hmmmm, decisions decisions... :scratchchin: :slap: :smoke:

From the specs, the Summit one looks like the Mallory unit in a different case?

Hot_Rodder

Well, heard back from Summit, here's what they recommend:
ign box: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=SUM%2D850600&N=700+0&autoview=sku
coil: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?CP=1&part=SUM-850500&N=700%200&Ntt=SUM~850500M%20or%20SUM~850500&Ntk=KeywordSearch&rsview=sku&Ns=

So, any questions, comments, concerns? On my original M.P. electronic vacuum adv. dist, with MSD 6AL box, and Blaster 2 coil, will probably be the same dist, but the above box and coil. As for the distributor wires, since Summits website is acting a bit wierd imo, I'll probably stick with the MSD Super Conductor wires..... I tried finding a comparison, found one, exerything seemed to match up, but when I hit the comparison link, the description changed all of a sudden on the Summit wires. It went from saying female socket style dist connectors, to male HEI style only..... How in the world do you do that, I don't know, so..... I could ask them, but.... The car show is today, and I'm gonna call a few friends up and see if any are going, hopefuly at least one is, and has room for two, then I'll hitch a ride if possible, otherwise I'd have to drive my lil truck down there and that would just take forever. :rotz:
