How hard is it to put a vinyl top on a car (my 69 charger) that has no holes for the moldings? Are there any templets available for the trim holes?
   Thanks

I don't know of any templates, but I'm sure there's plenty of of folks here who could give you locations for the holes...me uncluded, if you give me enough time. :)

Otherwise, you just need to pull your window trim off the front & back windows, and the rain gutter trim...glue the top down & slap the trim back on. Easier said than done, of course. :icon_smile_big:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Are you positive, It didn't originally come with a vinyl top?  My car is a repaint.  It also has no vinyl top, but did originally.  I looked under the inside of the rear from inside the trunk and can see filler in the trim holes.  Otherwise I would get some real roof trim and lay it down and mark it, make the sign of the cross (depending on religion of course) and drill. :Twocents:  Of course that's me.  Right after that I would be back on this site with the subject  title listed as "How do you cover up drilled holes in the wrong area for your roof trim?"  :bawling:

what i do to mark the holes is:

take an old set of check mark trim pieces grind the studs off and the take the stainless steel side trim pieces remove all of the clips set them in place , carefull measure to make sure they the are same from side to side, and that the trunk lid clears the moldings. next run a strip of tape along both sides of the trim , remove the trim and mark the holes in the middle of the open strip between the tape , then on the check mark pieces put a dab of body filler hardener on the molding right were the stud was and set it into place , now lift it back off and viola you're holes are marked!! next drill the holes small and final fit the trim by filing the hole the rest of the way for a perfect fit.

Great idea, I was going to suggest laying an old ground down piece on top of the  rear 1/4, but with the cost of mopar parts, I didn't know if that was a good suggestion.  Maybe a member has a set he would donate and let get passed around as a tool kit for marking the car?  The cast ones could be filed down to a point for marking, and the stainless longer ones laid down as you suggested.  So really all one needs is a donor for the chrome check pieces?  Hold on, let me check mine, they are in the garage.   (please hold). ............................................................(1 min more).......................................... I'm back.  You know, many guys have been very generous with their time on this site to help me out.  "Keepat",  was kind enough to sell me all 4 pieces for only 30.00.  I'll be a nice member and offer to donate mine to be ground down.  So if you need to borrow them, and will return them, I'll send them. 10.00 for shipping would be appreciated. (paypal) let me know.
