I have gear oil leaking from the axles around wheels, I have replaced the inner and outer gaskets around the backing plate, My father suggests there is no oil seal inside the axle shaft, but I dio not agree,  As far As I know I think there is a oil seal inside the shaft that the shaft assembly slides through and enganges the splines in the diff.  AM I right hear???

yes there should be axle seals inside the housing tubes like you suggested.

if you use green bearing then  i dont think you need to use the rubber seal on the inside,, but if you use the factory style with the adjuster then YES you have to have the seal in there

yes, I filled it uo to the plug hole.  Also I found the seals at the outer edge axle shaft area right behind the backing plate.  Also I did not have any problems with regular gear oil minus the posi friction mod, once I put it in the oil broke down(should I suppose) and begain to leak.  Any other suggestions.  Like I said did not leak until I added friction modifier for posi, does that sound right.  Also I am sure i did not over fill it.  Who sells the inner seals??

yes... outer seal is attached on retainer plate and only way to replace is removing bearings. Inner don't need to remove bearing, just axle and pry it out from housing

Found problem Axel flange bent and retainer nut teeth eaten off.  Damn.  I guess its time to go Green bearing set?  Correct.  Does someone have a retaining nut and flange forsale or better  who axel, with good bearings forsale.  If you were going to redo a axle from scratch what kit and bearings etc is the best??

Darrin, I have the Wilwood disc brake setup on the rear of my car.  The green bearings and seals that you need.  Give them a call.

Not to hijack this thread but I could not get an answer elsewhere so lemme try here.  Gotta Dana rear, 35 spline, with "green" bearings.  My driver side axle seems to spring out when I try to push it through the axle tube to engage the gears.  I have to push the axle in with one hand then tighten down the axle clamp with the other hand.  Needless to say the axle clamp is a little bent but it's on there.  Meanwhile the passenger side just slides right in and yes, I have the axles on the right sides since they are unequal lengths.  What's the deal???
