The first picture is the piece of the tail panel directly above the tail lights. It was centered over the center tail light, on the driver side, and the two words "NO" lined up with each other. Looks like different hand writing than the one on your car though Allen. At least not as fat of a grease pencil, and one appears to be white, while yours appears Yellow.

Yes, it is written in yellow grease pencil.  The way the "N" is written is fairly unique and similar on both, so it might be the same writer...  :shruggy:

When this saga finally is over, I will make you a photo CD!  :2thumbs:

BTW, I posted a clearer picture showing the body color side marker bezel...

I'm no handwriting annalist though, so I really can't say. I'll leave that up to those in the secret service  :coolgleamA:

Maybe whoever wrote it is like me, and it seems that my letters in my handwriting change from word to word, and sometimes in the same word.

I'll have to ask some people who have other 69 Chargers that have taken them apart over the years if they have ever noticed this. Last weekend was the first time I had ever seen anything like this. Or at least the first time I noticed it, and took a picture of it.

Kind of weird that you, Jay, & I all found these within a two week period!  :scope:

I do not see any sign of a second "NO" marking.  There is a small chance that when I carefully remove the years of dust accumulation I may find one, but I doubt it.

with only that one NO in yellow, my first impression was that it was a junkyard taillight.  seeing other examples is freaky.

The "YES" on Jay's taillight housing is yellow also.  So far it seems to be C500s only, with a spread of several months for Scheduled Production Dates...

Hey guys can i play along.  Here are two No's on my C500 taillights.  And my 69 SE parts car taillights have no markings on them.

Now you guys are going to make me pull mine out of the garage so that I can take a peek in my trunk.

So it looks like Jay is the odd man out, one more and he would be eliminated in baseball. 3 to 1. Maybe its a best of 392 series instead of 7.

Maybe it was used by drug smugglers and the No was for the cops not to check that housing  :shruggy:

I'm pretty sure the "NO" was for stripe color painted bezels.  :scratchchin:   :stirthepot:

The thread on Moparts has someone saying that he has worked on two "YES" cars, and he posted a picture of one of them.

Score:  YES - 3, NO -3... tie game, but it is earlier in the first quarter...  :popcrn:

The poster on Moparts says both the C500s he knew of with YES markings were sold new in Oregon... the same state Jay's YES car was sold new in...  Could it be for the car to get a rear window defroster? ???  :scratchchin:

Food for thought.    When was the YES or NO added, so far only 69 500 are known to have these markings. As we all know 500 were built on the Hamtramck assembly line, If the markings were put on there they were more than likely done when the car was about 1/2 compleat with tail lights being added but not the cover. After the cover was on a line worker did not see it, so was it at this point that the car receved something extra if it had a YES like mine. My 500 has full factory undercoating and rear defroster, and was dealer ordered, options that i bet not many 500 had. Or was it a signal that car was to be pulled off from the others for a quality inspection?  Now if when the car was at creative they had to remove the tail light cover to take off the R/T emblem between the lights and install :shruggy: the new emblem, did this tell the workers to do something extra.   Jay.

It is hard to say, but the plastic cover may have been one of the last pieces put on the car... especially if it was bound for Creative Industries for conversion.  It could have meant to put a rear window defroster kit in the trunk for later installation at Creative...  Just speculation on my part.  :shruggy:
