Hey Allen, just out of curiousity but what is the deal with the passenger rear quarter? Right where it wraps around to the tail panel it appears to be scrunched a little bit. Not sure how to describe it though.

Allen,
In regards to the sheet metal needs of your 500, here's my two cents.
Auto metal Direct and Hardcore Racing are both stating that they are currently, or shortly will be offering the full quarters.  I have been hearing bad things about Hardcore Racing and would be very hesitant to deal with them  I happen to have the same name as the head of Hardcore Racing and lately I have been receiving emails from people thinking I am that person, asking where their quarters are that they paid for months ago.  This does not sound good to me.
Auto Metal Direct seems to have more on the ball and I have seen pictures of their sheet metal parts that they are preparing to bring to market and they look great.  I believe they are going to offer one piece trunk floors in addition to Charger quarters, fenders and door skins.
Auto Metal Direct can be contacted at 866-591-8309 or www.autometaldirect.com
I hope this helps you.  Good luck with your cars.  I am envious of the collection you have put together.

Excellent feedback!  Just the type of information / opinions that I am looking for... THANKS!

Yep, it is tagged a bit but easily fixed if we keep that quarter panel.  The other side has more problems which although repairable would burn through a lot of $45 hours.

Below are the best pictures that I have of the C500 quarters now, will get better ones this weekend...

I had some rust like that. They look small till you start grinding on them or look on the inside of the quarter.

Thats the concern, but we will know more when the car is more dis-assembled.  I talked to AMD today, there has been a delay in bringing the Charger quarter panels to market... but they are still coming!  Probably will need an alternate plan if the delay is too long.

So, Allen, we going to park  our C500's next to each other at next year's Boerne Charger Meet?

Of course, this all depends if I'm sporting a Daytona by then......  :icon_smile_big:

Allen my biggest question to you on the restoration of the C500 for now anyways is this one.

Are you going to leave the rear marker light bezels painted body color? PLEASE SAY YES

Maybe at the 2009 Boerne Meet... if there is one! :shruggy:

With the delay of the quarter panels from AMD, it looks like the C500 won't even be in final prime by then.  My discussion with Joe (paint shop owner) set a tentative "realistic" goal to have the painted & rolling C500 body back to me by the end of Sept 2008, but that was before the delay with AMD quarters was known.  As with all my projects, delays are the norm... I am planning work-arounds like using the original quarters with repair panels if the QP delay is too long.

I was hoping you'd post a photo of the marker bezels sooner or later. I was wondering if they were stripe color or body color.

Body color... this is the best picture that I have at the moment.  I will take many more clear shots before it leaves for the paint shop...

Saved that one to a folder. One of these days I'll run out of hard drive space of C500 photo's. For now each car that I've seen has its own folder though.

Hmmmmmmm..........  Ya got me thinking about Blue Thunder... :scratchchin:

I generally tie the cars name into it's color.  Thanks for the input!  Anyone else?...

I may not make any progress this weekend... going to a friend's funeral tomorrow

I have been looking through old pictures for BZ's car, but no luck so far...

I did run accross some old pics of the C500, here are a few:

1) As purchased on August 9, 1986
2) When moved to San Antonio, it spent a while outside at a Boat & Camper Storage waiting for an inside unit to open up
3) When one came open, it was a big one... 56x10... kept 2 B-Bodies & 1 E-Body in it... here the C500 is leaving in 1999 to go to the Workshop
4) At the time the Workshop was new and BIG... It has apparently shrunk since then.

Back to sorting through old pictures & trying out my new Kodak 5100 All-In-One Printer/Scanner/Copier.

I know of a C500 SE with a blue leather interior a few hundred miles away from me. Its B5 with a white stripe. Wish we could bring it home. Also know of a numbers matching HEMI cuda sitting in a lean-to. Wish we could get that one as well.  Some stupid people just like to watch them rot

Cool pics. You sure have your documentation down. Did you ever drive it? The dusty pic reminds me I need to check on this Challeger that I was told about a while back. It is parked in a semi closed in carport and has just as much dust on it. Looks to have set for years. Nobody ever seems to be home though.

No, the car is exactly as I purchased it... kind of like a 21 year time capsule, but without the burial!  ;)

I am trying to track down previous owners to see if I can get any old documentation or photos...

Yes, it was previously titled in Missouri.  I am reluctant to provide details on an open forum because I am trying to locate old documentation & photos on the C500 and other cars and I am concerned that interference by others might create problems.  I do provide more details to a few people with the clear understanding the information will not be posted or provided to those who would do so...  Sorry for the drama, but I have been burned before!

So are you trying to trace ownership further back? I would have figured you would be around the between the 3rd to 5th owner of the car, considering how long ago you bought it. Guess that is what happens when you assume huh?
