I've come to a crossroad about the rear wheels, I bought 16" American Racing rims and now have found out that there is a very limited supply of tires. My question i,s will a 285/60 x 16 fit in the rear wheelwells with clearance or do I live with the 275/60 x 15"? Thanks for any help, James

James, the wheel/tire combo you've talked about should fit, as long as the backsapcing is right. I'm gonna be running a 295/50 on the back of my '72.

Also, what width wheel? If it's a 10" wide wheel, you'll need a certain back spacing, or will have to run wheel spacers.

i have a 73 SE and i've got 15x10's in the rear with a 5 1/2" backspacing..with a 295/50/15 tire  they clear and don't stick out of the fender wells...they come right to the fender well so only thing you need to worry about is ur fenders dropping down on the tires when your suspension flex.  I have air shops in the rear and it seems to be ok.

How close are they to the leaf springs?

they are about an inch away still.  Due to my personal prefference i'll probably be selling them and getting some 8" wide and getting something that is gonna tuck in the fender a bit more.  I'll try to get a pic in to show what it looks like.

How about this link, I've talked with the guy who owns the car quite a bit, and well... decided on a good wheel/tire size to run with hopefully not as much hassel... http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,13886.0.html
