Hey does the back window have rubber around it or is it just glued in ??

Glued in. Use urethane. Much stronger & less prone to leaking.

Used 3M #08611 5/16 Ribbon seal, they also make 3/8 ribbon seal but be sure to check your trim clip for space 3/8 maybe to thick? Just the front windshield has a rubber gasket.

Is the rear window difficult to take out.  I remember seeing a post discussing removing the window but I can never find something I once saw.  Need to learn how to search.

My vinyl top and inside headliner both need replacing,  Do the windows (front and rear) have to come out??

The glass should not have to come out to replace the vinyl top or the headliner.  I asked the place that did the top and headliner on my 69 Chevelle and they told me to have the glass installed first.  I had a bad experience using urethane to install a windshield, the depth was not correct and the trim does not sit properly.  I used butyl tape on the Charger and it sets in place perfectly.

No....I just removed mine today....finally going to get the rust fixed.

I used a guitar string, threaded it through the rubber, and with a handle on each end of the string, used it as a saw.....

The windows do not need to come out for headliner replacement....although it would be easier.

The vinyl top is held on in part with the retaining clips that hold the glass moulings on....from the factory anyway. The glass is kinda in the way of the screws that hold on the clips.... :-\

Can the headliner or the vinyl top be replaced with the front and rear glass in? :shruggy: Allright it could be dune, But why fight-it if you are replacing both the headliner and the vinyl top take the glass out! It probably leaks anyway! :Twocents:

The glass should come out to replace the vinyl top properly. The clips for the trim get installed AFTER the top is on. It just makes for a better, tighter job if the glass is out, as you need to stretch the top as you put it on.

The glass can stay in for the headliner, although it is a LOT easier to install one with the glass out.

Heres what they would have looked like originally although I do need to trim the headliner back a little more. When pulling these cars apart you always see the original headliner and vinyl top under the gasket.
