Hi,

For fun I started on the restoration of '69 grille I had lying around. It was very broken and damaged, trim was very dented, bent and corrosed.
After many, many hours this is what came out...

Wow, that looks really great! How are you on '70 grilles? :D

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Just patience, patience and some patience...

Hey jeroen

Do you have any tips tricks concerning the center trim piece. Mine is shot just like yours was. The rest of my grille is not damaged.

I'm curious how you undented that piece or better said with what materials......

I'm kinda lucky to have 2 grills for my '69 so i can practice a little.....

NOS is nice, turbo's are neat, but when it comes to Mopars, there's no need to cheat...

If you can find some straight pieces of steel, aluminium or iron that fit in the dent or in the dented shape. put it on a iron block and hit it with a hammer. Till you get the shape back piece by piece. Sand it till all little deformations left are gone (be carefull not to go through). Sand the old chrome layer off and then polish it with a electric polisher (as much rpm as possible)...

this and a lot of patience will do the trick...

Hi,

I used 2 component kneadable (workable) steel, fiber glass mats for strength, clay to make shapes (moulds) of broken pieces and cast plastic to mould new parts on the grille.
