Found a Beer to Replace the.....

.....one I was drinking on a regular basis. Not only have gas prices gone up, but the beer I've been buying did too. I was getting "Bass Ale" 12 packs for $10.50 until several weeks ago. (Really good amber type, not too dark or bitter) Then one day I went to the register & the clerk says "$14.50 please." I asked "Are you sure? The price on the shelf was $4.00 less." She checked, charged me the lower price, & off I went. Sure enough, the next time I went in, it was marked $14.50. Roughly a 40% increase in one shot. I spent some time looking over the shelves & found one called "Newcastle Brown Ale" for $11.00 or so, & decided to try it. As Charger Fan would say, MMMMMM, Beer! It was good, & maybe even slightly better than Bass Ale. Both are from England, but I don't drink them warm.

I wonder if the price increase it permanent or just until the hurricane season is over?

well ill be damned...the government oughtta step in and stick it to those greedy beer companies. This calls for yet another boycott and yet another "no beer" day.

Hey..start a thread about beer prices in your area.

BTW - dude...Miller High Life is the best cheap beer. Unless you wanna go the "40" route, in which case it's all about the St. Ides or Colt 45.

I buy Miller High Life when some of those paychecks get spent before I cash them. It's better than the other cheapo beers, or the other Miller alternatives they have.

Hey, what was that German beer you liked? My wife brought home "Warsteiner" a couple of weeks ago & I thought that was the one.

I ain't got time for pain, the only pain I got time for is the pain i put on fools how don't know what time it is.

Damn, it's a sad day when they start messin' with our beer. :icon_smile_sad:

I tried Colt45 once...once. Damn, that's nasty. I agree with Miller High Life though, that's bearable. :icon_smile_big:

So far, the store near me has had Budweiser 24-pak bricks on sale for $14.99. The sale ends tomorrow...I think I'll stock up a bit, just in case the prices go crazy.
And if they don't go crazy, well at least I'll have no worries about beer shortages in my house. :D

What do you guys think about Foster's Lager? I like it, but I'm so cheap that I don't get it too often.

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Kostritzer.

Warsteiner is actually pretty good, but when it comes to German beers I like em like I like my women - dark and bitter.

Chris, I found a small tavern outside of Carlisle a few years ago that has the best food in PA, & Yuengling on tap. Almost didn't go in because the place looked like it may have been close to being condemned. You'll never eat at the fairgrounds ever, ever, again.   :icon_smile_big:

10 bucks for a 30 pack. ? Can't beat that with a stick. ? Moparguy01 and Todd Wilson talked me into giving PBR a try. ? I must say it's growing on me. ? I check the mirror every morning for signs of a mullett, but so far no luck.

Paulaner is a very good German bier.

Molson Canadian is a very good Canadian beer.

Miller High Life & Pabst Blue Ribbon are my beer of choice when I feel like a beer from the United States.

Corona is a very good Mexican beer.

Stella is good and so is Leffe Blonde!

I do believe that was my most favorite beer in Germany, way back during my honeymoon. A close second is Negra Modelo (A "Graf Style Vienna" for you hardcore types)   :icon_smile_tongue:
