I am the new guy!!! I have wanted a charger or a General lee for a long time, every since I was brought up watching the Dukes of Hazard. I had looked at several cars and none of them were what I was looking for...until a few months ago I saw a General for sale on ebay. Its the car that was owned by Gary Baxley and was used on the dukes of hazard...no I don't have paper work but there is the smith brothers that can prove it. I also have john Schneider's 440 from the 2nd reunion show.

So far I had to fix a few things that Gary had done but nothing Major. Her is the rebuild of the car from the smith brothers. http://www.richardcummins.com/BAXLEY_JOURNAL.HTML

Yeah, looks nice. Looks like a top quality paint job too. It looks like there's a vinyl top chrome strip. I seem to see that pretty commonly on 2nd gen chargers. Could you get this trim without a vinyl top?

What happened was on the TV show most cars they got in were vinyl top cars, so they left the trim rather than fill the holes. Later on in the shows run, they went so far to keep the cars consistant that they would add the trim to non-vinyl topped cars. While you can find a couple of exceptions in the early days, 99% of the cars had the trim, so it is 'correct' to have that trim on a replica. When this General was built, it was during the era when they tried to keep them consistant, so it either retained its factory trim, or it was added during the "Generalization" process and is correct.

You should put it on the infamous "chicks on Chargers" thread over in the off topic area just to keep that afloat.  Or is it long dead now?
