The 727 is an animal and has been handling tons of torque for decades with little extra work. Some choices are slowly coming available. As you mentioned, the Gear Vender's unit. Nice unit from what I have read and what many owners have told me. Some bodies need to be massaged to make them fit. My 65' Coronet falls into that category. There is a fairly new player in this game that you may recognise. KEISLER is now building a GM 4L60E automatic overdrive with a special bell housing for mopar bolt up. This should be a nice unit as it has a lower first gear than a 727, so getting the car moving will be a cinch and GM's overdrive tranny's don't have the poor oil cooling to the overdrive problem.

Here's a link:   www.keislerauto.com

Until a year or so ago there was a guy hanging around the local cruZes with a blown big block Chevy with this tranny and he swore by it. It was a fully decked out 70' Impala. Heavy car.. I watched it launch a few times on the street. I was impressed....

Hope this helps..

keisler may make the mate-up bellhousing... but there's only one person in the US I would trust to build me a 4L60E that would handle anything... come with a 2 year warranty, and have that warranty backed up regardless of if I put 1000 HP in front of it and ran it at the track day in and day out.

That's Frank Cahall

Shipping will cost you about $75 with DHL, his prices are amazing and he comes highly recommended and sworn by from all.
