"Direct Connection" was a means of selling aftermarket and stock (hi-performance) parts via the local parts counter at your favorite Dodge or Plymouth dealer, mostly in the 1970s/80s.
It began in the late 1960's as a small cataloge called "Hustle Stuff" which grew into DC....and eventually Mopar Performance parts.
And now, to further identify with the Mopar breathern, it's back to DC, again.

I have asked some questions on other threads about the same issues with the new ownership, they seem very hush hush about the take over, but every thing seems to be buissness as usual.

The marketing implication with the old Direct Connection stuff was that you didn't have to get your speed parts and information second hand, you had a "direct connection" to the factory.   In essence, all the Mopar racers were factory supported (not sponsored, just supported).

It was an awesome campaign and I wish they would bring it back.

Its a coincidence that last Friday I was wandering through my favorite hidden Mopar scrapyard and there was a Dodge Rampage with Direct Connection decals along the side of the body. It had the factory roof mounted wing , fake hood scoop and different front bumper cover.

I think they're trying to bring it back Jim.  It's kind of a half hearted attempt so far.  They want to sell the DC t-shirts but not fund R&D into the race parts, which was really the crux of the whole thing.  If they would give David Hakim his dream budget and some engineers it would be great.  I'd rather see them pour money into Mopar Performance that way than sponsoring the professional race teams.  Those have become nothing but really fast billboards in my opinion.
