I have a 383 engine with headers and 2 1/2 stainless exhaust with magnaflow mufflers.  The car sounds great at idle and low RPM but at a cruising speed the car is "loud" and I get a "drowening" noise - I don't mind it but the wife hates it.  Would this primarily be the mufflers that is causing this, and would anyone know if I went back to stock mufflers if this would eliminate alot of the noise?  Thanks

Stock mufflers would quiet it down but restrict flow. They don't flow as good as magnaflows or whatever. Maybe try a different level of mufflers from magnaflows? I think Firefighter and some others use Dynomax's.

my stock mufflers makes allmost impercetible inside the cab ( of course for a V8 ), but still keeps good sound on aceleration outside.
