Just make sure that trailer doesn't come loose and move ahead and punch a nice hole in the center of that tailight!

dads_69

I went to the other charger web site, and I noticed that it doesn't say *charger* across the tail lights like others do. Is this normal or?
Mark

pettyfan43

No that isn't Normal, Have to see pictures up close of the lens to see what you are dealing with.

Topher

Kinda looks like someone sold some bits-n-pieces off the car. Maybe the lense letters were sold too.

I just got home from where charger is at till weekend. I did some digging inside the car, come to find out, its a 4 speed car, bell housing in trunk along w/other parts minus 18 spline. It has an auto console just sitting inside it, thats what made me think it was a auto car. Everything else is there, two extra grille, all the chrome trim plus another set for outside of car. I'll post more photos later. Only thing we couldn't find was the exh. manifolds in his garage. I looked through some books and found you can buy new rear tail light set ups. True or false? Price was over $400.00 also. If not, I'll be needing a good used rear T/L set up.

Wow Mark, this deal just keeps get sweeter.  As for those taillights, there's an excellent chance you will find them back ordered to forever but they do turn up from time to time.

What color is it going to be?

Its going back to original color gold. The guy emailed me this morning also w/more info. for parts before I pick it up. I'm getting a '67 440 motor that doesn't run plus an extra 400 w/727 that runs also now. So I just bought a running 400 w/trani' for $250.00 for no reason now, but I'll find a use for it anyways. Car is an org. 383 but that motor is long gone, bummer, almost had a matching #'s car for $500.00. Oh well, I'm still stoked about the car. Its my first ever 1st gen charger ever in all my years of owning them since 1981. He did say the trani' was a 18 spline, but I agree, 23 is more like it. I found won last night here in town for $800.00 needs rebuilt w/bell housing. I have yet to buy it cause I'm sure its a deal or not yet for it.
The guys reason for selling car, hes moving and won't have a garage for it anymore and hates to see it just sit after 22 years of it being inside his garage and not doing anything more than just look at it. He lacks major body/paint/motor experience. But he was honset about everything.

Home sweet home! The owner of the car was there when I picked it up tonight, he was in tears and wanted to buy it back before I had the slide back take it away. I felt for the guy, but I told him I'll let him drive it when I get it up and running. My wife is just es-static now w/me having two mopars to restore this summer, not........

Don't sweat the 383 part too much.  They weren't really numbers matching in 67 so the best you could have done with the original block was to have one that was in the correct date code window for the rest of the car.

pettyfan43

The good thing about the engine missing? USE THAT 440!!!!!!!!!!!! Have FUN with the car These cars are SO unique and cool, Getting a deal like that for 5 bills is KILLER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAVE FUN with the car!

Did some cleaning on the charger tonight. Pulled the front wheels off just to look suspension, guy told me it had drum brakes, so I took his word for it, it has disc up front. I normally look a car over from top to bottom, I never take anyones words for anything, cause I tend to be a sceptic like most. For some reason, this time, I just wanted what I saw and bought it two days later w/out looking it over completely first. The 400 I have for it, the first motor I bought it rebuilt along w/trani' 727. Thats going in the car for now. '67 440 will be built over this next few months and a 4 speed is in play as well once again like it came from factory only an 18 spline vs 23. Thanks for everyones help w/info. I'm more excited about this charger than my last four 2nd gens! I had a '68 a few years ago w/a 451 stroker. It would hit 130 mph in a blink it seamed and wanted more, but I sold it, don't ask why, after restoring it and driving it for a few months, it needed a new owner and I made some sweet cash off it also, that helped.

That score just keeps getting sweeter, the disc conversion is already done! That is something I have to do on the green bomb!

Topher

Is it a swap, or factry discs? Can you post a couple pix of the setup Mark? Is the engine in yet?

They are factory set up. Here is a photo from last night. I took this photo around 11: 40 p.m. That how light it stays out here during the summer months. I'll be going out to the body shop later today where my Dart is and motors are. I need to buy a few items before installing engine and trani' set up first. I'm looking buy a new/rebuilt 18 spline trani' from Brewers Performance out of MCG magazine. Car has full auto console set up right now w/shifter, which is not mounted in place, just sitting on top w/console plate. 4 speed shifter guy gave me w/car is not a B-body style either. Funny part is, I'm paying more for the 4 speed trani' than I paid for the hoe car. I'm gonna go through the underside of the car before I take it for a test drive also, been sitting since 1985.

Do you have a part time job? You're gonna need it to tune those multi-piston calipers up, or replace the rotors. It's a neat neat thing to have, but remember there was only 15,788 sold in 67, and not too many of those had disc brakes.

P/T job, me, no way. I work enough at my one job. I live for the weekends. I make good cash doing bodywork/paint. I am thinking of sending the rotors out of state and having them redone and buy new rotors also. I didn't realize how rare this '67 was till I dig some research myself, now your info. is even better. I thought of just buying the Wilwood kit and bag the factory set up, but not now.
Thanks for the info. Topher

Mine does.  :D  Toph is right about the cost though, you do not want to know what I paid for a set of NOS rotors last summer.

dads_69

I bought a pair of factory rotors for my '69 SE 4 piston Bendix years ago for $300.00 each. They are two piece and calipers were rebuilt in New York for another $400.00 plus and then shipping both ways for me on top of that. If I find that these are going to cost that much again to rebuild. I will just swap them over to Wilwood at that rate and save the factory set up. I just washed the car also, my wife thinks I'm losing it bad now. Washing a car I can't even drive, women........
