Went to a car show yesterday that involved about 300 miles of 75mph to 80mph (sometimes more  ;)).  Averaged around 14mpg.  Before, I would get about 10 mpg with the 3.55's going only around 65 to 70.  Sure was nice being able to keep-up with and pass the traffic flow.  Bob

Quit bragging  :haha:

Bob, that's pretty impressive fuel economy for a 440   :2thumbs:

Awesome , I have a buddy with a 472 hemi and 410's , I think it runs around 3000 rpm @ 60 mph , I just laugh !!!!!!!!Thats why I'm going with 355 gear and 427 hemi with Kesley 5 speed . 200 mph@5200 rpm and still will run 12S !!!!!

If a builder has the coin for a 472 Hemi motor then I'm surprised they haven't paid up for an OD setup of some kind.  These days you can throw several thousand dollars at it and get good no-hack setups for both manual & auto.

If I ever had a $15,000 motor with 4.10s in the rearend, I'd be wanting to knock down the crusing RPMs partly just to preserve it.

I Know that an O/D unit is on my rebuild wish list!  :yesnod: :icon_smile_wink:

Where were you today Bob?  I stretched mine out today runnin' 80mph + from Vancouver to Washougal the whole way turning right at 3000rpm.  Have I mentioned I love my new OD?  :D

Of course it was raining, but hey my car won't melt.  I manually shifted it from first on and it got sideways hitting second at just a idle.  Gotta love that Stage II shift kit.  :yesnod:

Mike, The show was in Richland  Wa..  Weather was just perfect; partly cloudy and around 70 degrees.  The wife didn't want to go, so I cranked up the '60's CD's that brought back all the great memories of that era.  Actually teared up a couple of times.  It was great seeing people pull to the right when they saw that bad ass '68 Charger front end closing in on them.  Well you know what I mean.  Bob

Right-on.   :punkrocka:  I had a car jump in front of me on the way there and I had to really get on the binders at the last minute cause I didn't realize how fast I was going.

It was sweet, I flew by a Yenko Camaro on the way home.  He was just puttin' along in the slow lane and I smiled as I buzzed by thinking how I use to be there.  :hah:
