i just got an email from yearone that they are selling a 420 plus hp 440, intake to pan with a balancer for 4500 bucks.   that seems fairly reasonable to me.  but then they are selling a electronic igntion conversion kit for 342 dollars that 133 dollars more than summit  ::)    and then a mopar mini starter for 283 dollars thats 140 dollars more than summit. for the exact same part! thats flat out prison rape! i cant even believe they are sending that out in a flyer. id be ashamed to be screwing people like that!

How much honestly do you think it would take to build a 440 from a junkyard freshen it up..and make 420 HP with it? Especially the way the junkyards rape people around here I think that looks to be decent.. :shruggy:

hence the reason i said i thought the engine was reasonable.  .      i have a pretty good idea on what it cost to biuld a engine. i just put a 446 together for my daughters bee clone. 9.4-1 compresaion, forged pistons, crower cam, lifters, and springs, engine machine work done, crank turned, rotating assembly balanced. heads rebiult all stock with new valves, new pushtubes, oil pump, pickup, oil pan, billet timing set arp rod bolts, arp valve cover studs sed m/t valve covers (thats what she wanted) used tm7 intake.  i biult it for right at 3k with me doing all the assembly work  so i feel the year one engine isdefinatly a decent buy.    i also biult a 452 low deck 2 years ago for right at 4k with e-heads.  the engine has pushed my 3800 pound roadrunner ( with me in it) to 11.35@119.92 mph so that should be right at 500-520 hp?

its the ignition kit and the started that i think is way out of line.

I bet for whatever resonable price year one sets for their motors..they will make up in shippiny. :yesnod: It's not a poor mans hobby thats for sure..Just finding a good deal on some things sway people to just pay the extra money instead of the hassle.
