Thats not good.  Cars & homes can be replaced.  My heart goes out to the families that were displaced......truely sad :(

i'm about 200 miles from that town, my buddys dad is in the national reserve and he was sent out there to help out with whatever they can...he said the town is literally leveled....there are like 4 or 5 buildings still recogizable....
Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....

My Daughter was born there. My wife couldn't even tell where the hospital was. 95% of a town of 1500 is gone. It was hit by a wedge EF5 toronado. I had heard one report saying the path might have been close to 2 miles wide. It has been compared to the tornado that hit Oklahoma City and Andover, that killed so many. I feel for everyone involved. I don't know how you pickup and start over from that.

Exactly what I thought.  It's always amazing how some houses are left alone but with this one there's not much left.  My aunt has family there.  One of my other aunt's survived the Hesston one years ago.  She left town and came back when she seen the storm.  There was a guy herding people into the walk-in cooler at the Pizza Hut or the truckstop, I can't remember which one.  By the grace of God the cooler survived.

I plan on going out there in about 1-2 weeks to help with clean up over the weekend.  everybody rushes out there right off and there are actually "too" many volunteers to handle logistically.  its 2-3 weeks after the hit that they need the most help.
