Holy Crap!  I had no idea! I been out at the beach all morning trying to get as much fresh pacific air as i can.
Well that's a major PITA for the commuters into the long term... they just finished that connector a year ago..
& for those folks that don't know the area that should add approx an hour to everyones commute between the east bay and S.F.
it can allready take an hour at peak rush hour...
I wonder what the odds were of that happening in such a fashion to drop the upper deck?..

several Years ago (edit 1982)  another fuel tanker ignited in the Caldecott Tunnel (also in the east bay hills) after being hiot from behind by a bus, and turned the entire tunnel into a giant blow torch killed a bunch of innocents, I'll try and find a link..
I'm allways wary when in the vicinity of those tankers..
