The Raiders surprised me. I figured Al would continue his streak and use the #1 to draft Rudy Ruettiger LB/Notre Dame.

;D

I guess the Browns arent as stupid as we all thought they were...

Yea, but I think Al died in the off season, or maybe earlier. I'm convinced that someone took him to the taxidermist, had him stuffed and then installed some animatronics so he looks sort of alive but now someone else is running the show. That's the only way I can explain his ghastly appearance and the fact that any logical decisions are coming out of top management in Oakland right now. I'm a big Raiders fan but I really wish Davis would go away.

I really hope Russell can turn this team around because I'm really tired of them sucking. They've needed a good QB way more often than they've had one.

I do have to wonder though...id they'd taken Johnson instead of Russell, how the rest of the 1st round would have shaped up. They might have been able to do what the Browns did - trade up a few spots from their 2nd round pick, and snatch Quinn. They would have ended up with two top 5 rated (pre draft, anyway) players....

Still, theres no way anyone could have predicted Quinn dropping that much...so they made the right pick.

So what's with Miami?  :shruggy:

Also, what's with Mortensen constantly stopping mid sentence? It's almost like he has no idea what he is going to say.

bull

Maybe, but I'm tired of Oakland's draft theatrics in trying to predict who goes where and how it might benefit them. Seems like every time they've used the #1 or #2 pick for leverage it's come back to bite them. the I'd rather they do what they finally did, just get a talented and proven leader and build a team around him. And get some friggin' linemen who know how to block for him so he can do his thing. I don't know if they'll turn things around immediately but I think if they stick with Russell long enough and be patient enough they'll do good things in the next few years.

Guns N Rotors

Wow... the Browns are huge winners today.

My heart sunk when they passed up Quinn on the third pick.
Nice job Cleveland!!! Good comeback.

I'm hoping Miami will cave in to the Queefs demand for a first day trade for Green.  KC's GM held off on pulling the trigger to keep Culpepper in Miami thru the draft so they wouldn't cut him and let the Faders pick him up, which would in turn most likely have the Faders taking Calvin Johnson, IMO.

Here's a fun little irony for you.  I lost a case of beer in a bet that Brady Quinn would be taken 3rd or higher, because I felt sure that he would be taken.....wait for it.....by the Browns.

bull

I lost $5 on the Raiders in the off season when I bet a co-worker that Seattle had less than a 20-game lead on Oakland over the past 10 seasons. Turns out they have exactly 20 more wins. :icon_smile_angry:  :P

This is the first year in god knows how long, where the bills haven't completely screwed up the draft.

Now maybe if we didn't get rid of all our play makers, we could have a winning season...

Well Mr. Kiffin and the old man are doing some work on offense trading Randy Moss and picking up Mike Williams and McCown from the Lions.
They gave only a 4th for the latter and got that 4th back for Moss, which I thought was very low value.  Actually on both trades.
*cough* They're having a good weekend. *cough  cough*

Seems like it. Their defense was their bright spot the last couple of seasons...it was the offense that couldnt score more than 10 points a game that killed them. I'm glad their loading up on offense this time around. I'm still very skeptical about hiring Kiffin as coach, but let's see what happens. They'll probably start McCown and let Russell sit til he's ready to start in a year.

Moss is a crapshoot though. If he plays like Randy Moss, they hit the jackpot. If he plays like disgruntled Randy Moss, theyre worse off.

ANd thanks to the Browns my Cowboys will be able to draft this guy next year...

Of course now that I just posted that the Browns will probably make the playoffs next season.

Seriously though, it was a good trade for both teams. The cowboys till got their guy (Spencer) and added a first next year. My best friend is a browns fan and he's very happy with their draft. The only questionable pick was trading up for Wright. He would of been there in the 3rd. Most draft "Experts" had him dropping to late second day because of the character issues (accused rape and having 136 X pills in his dorm).

Spike

I can't believe Troy Smith fell so far in the draft. His size may hurt him but he is better than some of the other qb's taken before him, for starters Drew Stanton by Detroit. Josh may be good for Oakland, he never had a shot wiht the Lions. As for Mike Williams, who knows what this guy will ever do??

If he becomes a problem, he's gone. They gave up a 4th rd pick, 110 overall for him. Cheap enough. He then restructured his contract from $9.75M/yr to $3M and none of it is guaranteed.

Belichik said he ran a 4.29 for him in the 40. That's unreal.

Even without him, the Pats have loaded up.

I'm a little concerned about some of the lesser "character" guys they've brought in, like Moss. But, this locker room has so many quality people that they seem to police themselves as they did with Dillon and Harrison.

I don't think Wright was gonna last past the Chefs.  Herm had a hard on for the kid having been to Las Vegas a couple times for one on one interviews.  I think that's why the Brownees jumped in front of them.  As a matter of fact the Brownees jumped in front of the Chefs twice over the weekend to take a player.  :brickwall:
