I have a similar buildup as you mentioned. 383- .030 over, Torker intake, .528 lift cam, headers, ported heads etc....  The carb works great right out of the box. I had lots of headaches trying to get a Holley to  run right.  The only problem I am experiencing with the carb is I run real rich at idle, which I think is because of the looonnggg cam duration. I think this would happen with any carb though.  Other than that the car runs like a raped ape...

I had one on my 383 and I was more than happy with it.  I only took it off because I scored a nearly new Holley for nothing and with them having so much more tunability, well, I couldn't really turn it down.  The Eddys are a clone of the Carter AFB and make a great street carb.

I've had the same trouble with the Holley 3310 I have. I'm glad to hear that you like yours. I went ahead and ordered it today at a local speed shop. Should be here tomorrow morning. Hopefully I have the same success you did with yours.

Alright. I went and picked the carb up this morning. When I went to mount it, I noticed that the intake (where the carb mounts) is not a square bore and the carb is a square bore. Do I need an adapter plate?

Well guys I got the carb hooked up/tuned and took it for a quick spin. It'll break the tires loose from a dead stop but I'm giving it full throttle and only laying about a 6-7 foot patch. I think it should have a lot more power than this. PA Dodger, you mentioned you have a very similar set up to mine. Did you have to make any changes to the carb, like a weaker step up spring? I'm only pulling about 5" hg and idle (650 rpms).

Scott, I do have the "strip kit" with all the different springs and rods. I have swapped them here and there to see if they would make a difference. I pretty much ended back at stock . I am pulling more vaccuum than you are though,so you may benefit from a lighter spring for the carb. The only real change I made was drilling small holes in the primary throttle blades to enable me to back off the throttle screw. I mentioned in the PM I sent you how important the 10" convertor was for my setup. This, along with some decent gears in the rear will help you smoke 'em if you want.

Rear end is something I had forgotten about. I've got a 3.23 open (means non-sure grip, right?) rear end. That will probably hinder my burnout capability. I'm going to try and raise my idle speed, by messing with the idle mix so that I raise my vacuum. It seems like I'm running pretty rich. Probably because I'm pulling gas from the main circuit at idle. I'll mess around and see what I can make happen. I'm pretty happy with the results. A week ago today I would bog down and die when I gave it any throttle. I'm also going to check out my total timing. I hear that the rebuilt stock distributors have WAY too much mechanical advance, I'm going to get a digital read out timing light and see where I'm at. Thanks for all the help.
