Shifter - What am I missing?

The Keisler saga continues.  As you can see from the photos, I must be missing something.  The trans is bolted to the crossmember and the engine, but the center console alignment is way off.

My guess is that you need a non-console Pistol Grip shifter. The shift handle you have is designed for a side loader tranny, and is offset to pop up in the center of the console. The factory style  4 gear shifter plate also has the boot hole roughly an inch and a half farther forward. Here is a pic of my 4 gear plate and my auto plate side by side, to give you an idea where the hole needs to be centered.

is that shifter from kiesler? and also the adapter looks alot dif from mine althou mine in for a round stem shifter all from kiesler

Yep, its all from Keisler.  I've sent them an email with those photos asking them to explain WTF is going on.

Looks like it will be another week before I can even drive this thing.  Thanks to Keisler this install is going on 2 MONTHS now.

1hot68, is your shifter a different shape or length?  How different is your adapter?  I'm just trying to understand how the shifter and adapter is supposed to look in order to exit through the center of the console hole.

At least the shifter is coming through the floor in the same place, but I'm not sure your shifter would fit through the center console either.  Its difficult to tell.   

I may have to move the center console toward the passenger side to make this contraption work.

The console does not ride in the geometric center of the car, it is offset to the passenger side a hair under 2".  That could be part of your problem.

my shifter does come thru where its suppoed to and the console is mounted to stock brackets too are you trying to center the console in the car do you have the brackets in the right place ? did youre car have a console orig?

i also just noticed youre top plate is not kosher the hole is too far back is it a moded auto plate ?................................can you flip youre adapter brkt ove and mount the shifter to the left further that way?

My center console is factory but it appears to be mounted slightly to the driver's side, not the passenger side.  (The build date is "928" which I assume to mean an 1967 early production model.)     The console is for a factory automatic.

EDIT: I just got an answer from Keisler which basically states that I have to turn the shifter nub around so that the "flat" spot of the nub faces the driver's side, even though it came that way from Keisler.  They didn't mention anything about the actual shifter itself (which is what I thought was part of the problem.)  I'm not sure even that will work since that will only buy me another ~ 1".  As for the center console 'hole' I guess I'll have to purchase a 4-speed console plate - WTH...Since my console is 40 year old faded/cracked stuff, I might as well get the whole thing, console, plates, and all.  

BTW, that's an awesome looking Charger, 1hot68!
