Updated pictures of Hemi Charger 500 at Joeys place

The paint is done, but by the looks of it it's being prepped for polishing.
The first couple of shots are "before" pictures.
It looked a lot more solid than it was.

The only clear coat is on the front suspension area.  The rest is just base so far.    The clear coated stuff looks a lot like F5 green to me, but I may be wrong.

Many of the vehicles completed at his facility have been featured in numerous Mopar magazines, and won top honors at many Chrysler (and other) venues.

I've been informed the Hemi 500 is F8 in color, and after paint is complete, it will be handed over to Kori Alexander at Show and Go Resto for the final assembly and completion.

Do you know the current owner of that car? Just curious? I know which 500 it is, but don't recall ever seeing any fender tag information for the car. Or does it have one?

I believe your right it is supposed to be an F5 green car though.

The F5 color reminds me of my 1975 LTD Country Squire Wagon.    My "Family Truckster" was a similar 70's green called Dark Yellow Green Metallic.     Hard to believe, but I pulled the Superbird with that car for five years.   

I like the F5 better than the F8.   I think the car will look nice when striped up.   That color will have some nice "pop" in the late afternoon sun.

I've been painting for over 30 years and I've never left basecoat open that long or even removed a car that has been based from the booth before applying clear. I'm assuming that's basecoat since it's so flat. Interesting. Obviously he's been doing this for a while, so I guess it works for him. Very nice looking car.

I always thought you needed the suspension on to paint it so it can set on it for everything will line up. I guess I was told wrong. Which is the norm??

I have friend who I believe uses a Spies Hecker product that allows you to go back later and shoot the clear without sanding and reshooting the base.   Anyway, there is a paint system that works a little different than the norm.

That's a good point. I painted a matching numbers 67 GTX hemi 4 speed car last year and the guys motor wasn't ready to drop in. So, I sent the car home with him sans fenders and hood. Once the motor's finished, he'll install the entire driveline and trailer it back to me for final assembly. These unibodies tend to settle a little after that 800lb motor is dropped in. Ask me how I know.

hotrod I don't see insurance companies ever giving us that kind of time to refinish a car.

As long as they're not in a rental car, the insurance companies don't seem to care how long it takes as long as their insured or claimant is happy.
Fortunately, the insurance companies aren't involved in many of the old cars that we repair.

Awesome job!  It looks like F8 to me.  Do you know if its coded as such?   What color was it found in?  Sublime?

Your correct it was sublime when it was for sale on Ebay. I don't know what color its actually coded for, as I don't remember it having a fender tag. But for some reason I recall it being a green HEMI 500.

Wow, that is awesome, very close to the QQ code of my ex fiance's 68 firebird.  I love that color.

I like to call it Flight Suit Green.
