OK, i have always wondered.... what is this bracket for?

That bracket is for a air/hydraulic bumper jack( a very common jack in those days).... mostĀ  cars of the era had bumpers all the way down ,instead of a lower valence. but cars that didn't got a bracket of that type.

Thanks guys. Yeah I know my UPS guy pretty well too. He secure the packages in a place we are in aggrement if I am not there so he don't have to make extra trips. I always give him and the postman a gift card for Christmas.

Nice day to spray some chassis black  :yesnod: I bought new springs and they came unwrapped and had a lot of scrapes and scratches on them so I went ahead and gave them another coat. I guess all I did by buying new springs was saving me from cleaning the old ones since the new ones didn't have any more arch than the old ones.....oh well at least I won't have any issues later. A few more things to blast and paint before I start the chassis assembly. I haven't bought new torsion bars yet. Not sure if I should.....they were fine before I removed them  :shruggy: Has anyone had any issues by using their old ones?

Progress is coming along very nicely. Do you have a timeline that your shooting for, or a particular show your hoping to have it done by? I'm afraid to strip mine down and start on it, because I'm afraid it would be a 75 month restoration.

Thanks. Well when I started it I was saying a couple years ::) One thing led to another and now I am restoring every nut and bolt so no timeline at this point. I could have not did a full restoration but the car was in too good of condition not to. After the suspension is all on I will maybe throw the doors and fenders on and see what I got. If I do some more body work It will take longer and less money so I will see how things go. It has been two years so far so whats another two  :-\

And wasn't the car parked for many years before you started the restoration? I would think that by now you'd be getting a pretty good itch to get it back on the road and just finally enjoy the car.

I hadn't had it tagged since the early 90's Yeah I can't wait to get it back on the road. Besides having the body blasted I have did everything by myself. I also work overtime and have a family. If I sell some other projects or sacrifice some other things maybe I could have farmed some work out and MAYBE had it done by now. I hate farming stuff out and find out I could have did it just as good myself....it just takes longer.

Sounds like how I would have to do my car. I don't think I could afford to pay anyone to do a thing to my car. And that is why I say it would probably be a 75 month project. For now I'll just keep driving it and enjoying it, until it really begins to bug me and at that time I'll finally break down and go through it all.

I know how you feel, believe me it bugged me enough. I built a garage a few years ago so I could start it someday but that left me broke, so I sold my 57 Chevy and I had enough money to at least start on it. I feel forunate enough to been able to even do that. I could send it out for the rest of the body work and paint but then I would be broke again.

I'm going thru that decision right now, build a garage for it or pay to have the body work done.  I did this once already and then had to move and in hindsight i wished i would have put the money into the car instead of a new garage.  But now i'm going to make the same choice, build a garage for it.  If i run out of money i can just shut the garage door and leave it for 73 months.

From what I gathered there is maybe just a few instances where used front torsion bars were an issue. It looks like you are replacing everything else you might as well get new ones right  :shruggy:

I took your advice. I got new 960's I figure I don't need a firmer ride for any reason. I also got a rear sway bar from Summit.  ;D
