Hey all,

I was just looking to get some feedback on the best order to install the interior if all I have in there now is the dash and absolutely nothing else.  What Im looking for is common sense stuff like, put the seats in before the door panels so you dont rip into them while swinging them through the doorway, etc etc.  I have an idea of the order, but I would like to hear from those who have done it before.  Also, when is the best time to so the headliner (before seats, after vinyl roof-due to C pillar emblem install). Any and all comments are appreciated!!!

Thanks

Ok, not put one together before, but here's the order I'd use, having stripped mine.

1) Vinyl roof and emblems (bolted through sail panels) and trims.
2) Headliner and upper trim rails/A pillar trims and interior mirror.
3) Dome light and sun visors
4) Parcel tray and trunk/cabin divider
5) Rear 1/4 panels
6) Rear seat belts
7) Carpet and sound deadening (do before carpet if separate)
8) Rear seat back rest
9) Rear seat base
10) Front seat belts
11) Console
12) Front Seats
13) Front door panels
14) Kick Plates
15) Have beer, pat dog, date prom queen.

Thanks! although I think my wife and the police would have issues with me dating the prom queen!  :yesnod:

Do you think there will be any issues if I left the back glass in, with either the vinyl roof or headliner?  Windshield is out BTW.

Thanks

OK, not sure on taht one, but I guess the glass goes in before the vinyl top at the factory, but I'm a newbie here myself. I guess the integrity of the rear window seal is paramount, to prevent all the rust issues we're combating now. Personally, if the seal is good, I'd leave the rear window well alone.

Thats exactly what I was thinking.  Its sealed up pretty good at the moment and really dont want to start another battle if I dont have to.... I also didnt have much of a rust issue in that area either.

I replaced the top on my 68 with the back in and the windshield out, but not because I had to you don't have to install or remove the glass to do the top.

Thanks.  I think Im going to try the headliner myself but farm out the vinyl top.

Also keep in mind that you will need to need to install the back of the rear seat before you put the rear arm rests and bases on, or the seat back won't fit.
