I know, because he is definitely over his prime but at least he'll be around for a few laps for a few races and most likely will get some coverage due to the story brewing in the Napa pit.
Great advertising for Napa IMO.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

And NAPA is paying a buttload for that advertising too. They pay $300,000 a week to sponsor that car. So far this year they have paid 1.8 million dollars, and their name has not been in a race yet.

So I agree, while Bill is way past his prime, at least the car can get into a race. I am almost surprised they have not tried to get Rusty back to run some races for them, seeing how he is a past champion. And might actually run better than Bill would.

I don't see why anyone would say the last car they drove in a race was a slow toyota that couldn't qualify, and just drove around in everyones way  :'(

GNR. Your right. I'm a long term thinker. With DJ about to run out of provisionals that would only leave their rookie Dave Riutermann to run a mikey waltrip race car every week.
I see a pattern developing here. After Bill runs out of provisionals Mikey can get another past his prime former champ to wheel his car.
Hmm, Richard Petty in a NAPA toyota :scratchchin:

As long as that thing is running the way it has, I can't see any decent driver getting in that pig. WHY would any driver who really doesn't need the money subject himself to the ridicule that would follow that move?

Before the race today, I think Darrell Waltrip basically said that Mike has too much going on.

Don't forget kids..."Mikey Goes Home Day" (qualifying) is tonight at 8 pm (EST).  :hah:

He was actually faster than some cars that made the race...but the Top 35 rule did him in.

I really hate the stupid top 35 rule. Should be the fastest get to race, the rest go home, period!

Uh oh - Just a rumor at this point, but this is how cookies start to crumble...

NAPA looking? hearing that NAPA Auto Parts is looking at options for their sponsorship in the Nextel Cup Series. NAPA has been the sponsor for Michael Waltrip in the Cup Series since 2001, first with the #15 DEI Chevy, then since 2006 on the #55 car. Supposedly NAPA is talking to Richard Childress Racing as a possible replacement sponsor for Cingular, should AT&T not win its lawsuit against NASCAR to have the AT&T decals put on the #31 Chevy AND with Roush Fenway Racing as a sponsor for the #16 Ford Greg Biffle drives. Current sponsor Ameriquest has opted out of the sponsorship after the 2007 season.

Like I said once before, they need to toss out the top 35 rule crap ::)    Maybe have that rule ONLY for the top 10 in points. But really, it should be only on time for everyone.

BTW, you see the Busch race today and Kyle Bushes flip? Right away blames it on Tony Stewart and it wasn't Tony's fault as Tony actually got turned by Montoya first.  :rotz:
