Several years ago when the Mopar nationals was still in Indy, A guy had a big box of owner's manuals he was selling. He said they came from Grand Spaulding Dodge in Chicago. I bought two of them, one for each of my '69 Chargers.

Tonight I'm rooting around in my desk drawer and I run across these two owner's manuals.

I open up the first one-it's still in it's clear plastic folder-it's in good shape-nothing unusual about it-until I look at the Business reply mail card that is addressed to the Airtemp division-something you would drop in the mail to have a salesman contact you about air conditioning your home, car, business etc. with Chrysler Airtemp air conditioning.

Scrawled across this card in what looks like ball point pen is  XX29L9B239392

So does this car still exist? Is it a C500 or a Daytona ? Anybody here own it?

...He carefully slips the manual and it's airtemp card back into it's folder....

The second manual is the same deal nice shape in it's clear plastic folder, but on it's warranty booklet under "Owner and Vehicle Identification is:

XP29F9B333966 Sold to a Reinaldo Cruz on 1-21-70

The name of the authorized selling dealer?

Grand Spaulding Dodge, Chicago Ill.  ;D

Anyone here own either of these cars?

Inquiring minds want to know... :shruggy:

Just 6T9 CHGR

The first one is a Charger 500....dont have that one in the registry yet :(

I dont have the second one either yet......

MOPARHOUND!

Why would the dealership have the owner's manual?  The only place I have found them is in salvage yard's, or from owner's who kept them after selling their car.

Perhaps they were removed from used cars, while being prepped for re-sale?

Just thinking out loud here..........

*Speed costs money son, how fast do you want to go, and for how long?"
*"Build the biggest engine you can afford the first time."
*"We normally wouldn't use a 383 for this build, parts and labor for a 440 cost the same."

Maybe he only meant it as it says "came" from Grand-Spaulding and not necessarily that he "got" them from there?  I'm only guessing too though.

Grand Spaulding may have kept the owners manuals of new cars in a box/file/drawer, so they wouldn't get swiped from the glovebox when the car was sitting on the lot. Dealers probably still do that today.
Anyway, I'm guessing some newbie salesman probably sold those cars & forgot to give the owners their manuals when they finalized the paperwork, hence the reminder of "Sold to a Reinaldo Cruz on 1-21-70" on the one. I'm betting the VIN numbers were written on each one when the manual was removed from the car at first.

The bike dealership I work at does the same thing...you'd be amazed how many owners manuals we have accumulated over the years, because of FNG salesmen. ::)

Oh &  :popcrn:   ;D

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

69_500

Well I'm still researching the 500 VIN. I do have it wrote down as a car that I have seen over the years at a show. Trying to go back through all my little notebooks to see exactly which show it was at, and when. I'll let ya know of I come up with anything else on it.
