6d9 charger

I just got a 318 from a mid 80's  car with very low miles , i want to put it into my charger until the big block is done .
i will be running a set of headers , but my problem is on the heads just below the exhaust ports there are small holes about 1/4 "
i'm assuming they are for emissions , can i fill the holes with a blob of weld than bolt on my headers ?
or am i forced to change the heads to an older style ? they are 2 bbl heads if that makes a diffrence.
thanks
pete

I got the same situation and if nothing else i will tap um out andsink some set screws, that way no leaks,or burn thru. hope it helps,TK

I had the same holes in the heads on my 360 magnum I built.  Smoked and leaked bad until I plugged them with some JB weld, works fine now.

just get some newer magnum heads for better flow.

the holes are for the smog pump. just tap some thread in there and screw in some pipe plugs.
