Think I should trade?

Since this has nothing to do with cars I'll post it here 

I've got a chance to trade a handforged Katana my uncle brought back from Japan a couple months ago just before Christmas for the MP5 pictured below! What do you think? The deal is $400 Cash plus my Katana for the MP5, Silencer, RDS, 4 mags, ammunition, etc.

Do you have  a ffl if not the silencer is illegal for you to posses, unless you go thru the hassle and expense of transferring it in to your name

If thats a true Japanese handforged Katana I wouldnt be trading it. Especially if someone in my family got it for me. The MP-5 is nice but theres nothing you can really do with it. At least the Katana can be hung above the mantle. I love my guns but I'd give up any one of them for a true Katana (not one of the pieces of crap you get here in the US)...

Keep the katana. Save your cash for another H&K. If the katana is genuine, those things can sell for 30k or more.

The Katana is Genuine but hardly worth 30K! My uncle brought me back another one a couple years before that IS a very superb blade. This one here isn't made by any Japanese Master or anything like that.

As for the silencer, since I live in Canada the thing is illegal no matter what...

ehhhh 50/50 i'm on the fence!!!!!!! but as long as you say it's not a realllly good katana...hhhmmmm that is a reallly nice MP-5 though!! don't like the front hand grips though...more of a SD-6 man myself!!!

I have a video of him in the late 80's getting ready to go bounce on the USS Nimitz when I was in VF124.  He strapped in to one of our F-14 show birds and off he went. I stood on the wing of another bird and taped him for like 45 minutes and at one point he actually waved at the camera.  Even his wave leaves a mark.lol.
Our Commanding Officer(who was Mike"Wizard" McCabe, the pilot who shot down the Mig in the early 80's, so famous in his own right) at the time said absolutely no one bother him when he returns.  How do you think that went?  I walked up to him with a piece of paper and a pen and got his autograph none-the-less.

keep the katana. on top of everything else it sounds like you'll be less illegal with that, cause if you get nailed with a silenced mp5, youd probably go away for a very long time. you know, since its illegal to have a bb gun up there.

I'm a big fan and collector of Martial Arts items. I don't even own a gun, but swords are big in the house hold. I'd say keep it since the gun is not legal where you live anyways. Looks like the votes are leaning that way also.

I made my choice and I decided to keep the Katana!

I know nothing about those big knives. If it were me I would take the gun. You never take a knife to a gun fight! MP5's are cool.

The way I looked at it is thus:

The Katana hangs on my wall looking nice and makes a good conversation piece not to mention I know how to use it. The MP5 wouls be great but since it's illegal it would be the same, I could never take it to the gun range and fire it so it could only be kept in my gun safe in my closet and never taken out until I was besieged by a bear after the livestock.
