Need help with a Holley 750

I posted this on moparts but I thought I'd give it a try over here too. I've been working on getting the old 383 in my sport satellite running. Tonight I tried the first start up. When I cranked the engine over fuel came flowing up and out the top of the Holley 750 carb. I'm not sure what the part is called where the fuel came out so I attached a picture with an arrow pointing to it, on a similar carb. So what could be the problem? Do I need to do a rebuild to figure out what the problem is? The carb has a dual feed and a vacuum secondary. I did not have the vacuum line hooked up but that shouldn't make a difference. Thanks for any help.

Scott, the arrow is pointing to the front bowl vent. It sounds like the float is either stuck or adjusted too high. Try tapping on the bowl lightly with a screwdriver handle to see if this frees up the float.

if not undo the nut on the top of the front bowl & remove the needle & clean it out then reset the float height when you re-install it
