I've also heard a lot of funny things people say when talking to me about my GL. One of the funniest and honestly most annoying is this one old guy at a local cruise night. Every time he sees my car he asks "Hey,  you know who has one of the origional General Lee's, don't ya?" No, I always reply. His response "Kenny  Wayne Sheppard! I saw it on TV!!" It boggles the mind how he could have watched that show and drawn that conclusion since they made a point to explain repeatedly how Extreme Lee was different and taking the GL theme to a new level. Anyway, that's my story.
I do believe that he has a nice GL clone as well. It was made before the Xtreme Lee.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

Life isn't Father Knows Best anymore, it's a kick in the face on a saturday night with a steel toed grip kodiak work boot and a trip to the hospital all bloodied and bashed.....for reconstructive surgery. But, what doesn't kill us, makes us stronger, right?

Round 1968 signal lights visible on TV-show GLs?

I agree with Jim Shine.  This happened on a 1968 car once during season #2, but they were sprayed-over with the orange paint.
I've never seen any 1968 lights that were still visble in normal chromed condition.
-----------------------------------

1968 round taillights on a TV-show GL?

Never seen it.  Never.
The TV cars ALWAYS wore the wider 1969 taillights, whether it was a re-cut 1968 panel or an entire panel swap.
------------------------------------

1968 grilles visible, and not converted somehow?

I've actually seen it once.
But this was definitely not normal.  This was one single shot out of one episode.

The TV crew was known to crudely attach a 1969 grille's divider onto the front of a 1968 grille.  (2nd-unit stunt cars only.)  I suspect this brief instance of a "visible 1968 grille" was really just a case of the added-on '69 divider piece accidentally coming off during filming one day.

OK it's go time,  me and you Mr. JimShine.   :boxing_smiley:   :icon_smile_big:  I'll have to go and watch all the shows I have to find that shot.  So you just hold the phone there Mr.  :icon_smile_cool: Hey JimShine, I know this is probably a dumb question but If I do find it do you have the whole DOH collection?  I'll see what I can do.   Chuck............

You are funny Chuck. :icon_smile_big: This is not directed at you, but to everyone who reads this. I like to consider myself a good friend of Jim Shine and his brother Matt, if they'll have me.  We had some good times in a very short period!!  We hung out a little bit last summer and I learned so much.  Only thing I have to say on this is, if you want to know about the Dukes or if you want to know anything  about guitar history... Jim is the man.  There are people that know a little about certain things and there are people who know a lot about things.  Jimmy certainly fits in the category of a lot!!!!! If he can be proved wrong he will graciously admit to it, that's why I got along with him so well(but I've never known him to be wrong).  He most definitely has done his research and doesn't speak of what he doesn't know, that's why I had so much respect for him.
Maybe a little corny, but that is the way I feel about it.

Why is it that everyone and their brother is making a General Lee out of a 69/70 model year Charger??

The movie remake probably had something to do with it........... :-\

Yes, he had one cause I almost purchased it from him(i'm pretty sure it's gone nowcause that was well over a year ago).  I called and talked to his secretary as he was on a plane back from LA.  I did receive an email from Kenny with some very good pictures that were supersized and there were some things I didn't like so I declined.   He wanted somewhere in the neighborhood of $27k for it.  Like I said, I declined but hindsight being what it is, I might have been better off buying his vehicle cause it was actually pretty darn nice looking back now.  So yes Troy, you are correct Sir.

I know the scene with the 1968 tail panel with the 68 tail lights, its a very fast an i do mean fast cut scene, you half to freeze the scene before the jump to an watch fast as the car hits the ramp an you see the tail panel for a sec, its I think is in 5th season which is Coy and Vance era, Enos is coming toward the Duke boys i think it was an Coy hits a bankment like that was behind the bushes like an shots up into the air, they have the camera behind the bushes but yet you can see alittle bit of the road and you can see the tail panel as the charger just starts to lift off the ramp, its a very fast scene as if you are not looking for it you won't see it. its also in the same episode where the one charger has painted orange over chrome rocker panels.

Yeah, I have them all. At home and here in the office.

Jim, that chrome rocker painted over car was Season 2 and it died in Carnival of Thrills, which was filmed in season 2, aired inbetween 2 and 3, but now is considered season 3.

Jim, I know you know alot of the Dukes an i know stuff about them also, but the scene I'm talking about is not in seaon 2 or 3 its in season 4 or season 5 of the Dukes, the footage they used wasn't shown before that, the charger comes up fast behind the bushes which is to the side of the road or it might have been off the road and the charger hits the ramp an just as he does you can see the painted over side rocker and you can see the rear tail panel an its a '68 tail panel with the four round tail lights, like i said before the scene is very fast an if your not looking for it you won't notice it that much because they cut to Enos or Rosco and then cut back to a '69 charger landing easy. But the charger I saw had 1968 tail lights. If I had a dvd player in my computer here I would take a screen cap when I found the episode again an I would post it but my computer doesn't have a dvd player though  :-[

Hey Jim do you have at least an episode name where you saw the 68 taillights?

now don't you think if I knew the episode name that i would had post it before?  :shruggy: , its in either Season 4 or Season 5 where I saw the episode at as I have the seasons on dvd here. I didn't belive it myself when I saw the tail lights, an when I said easy landing it was more like a nose dive landing as the back of the charger did kinda bouch off the ground as it landed an pulled away alittle, but this landing was of the '69 charger though, the take off car (stuntcar) for the jump was the '68 though. Soon as the tail panel comes into view of the camera and you can just see it for a slip of a sec they cut to another scene. I thought they change all the tail panels out for the '69 versions.

not trying to gate crash anythin guys  :icon_smile_big:  have not seen  any of the dukes  originals for a while . i used to watch them all the time when i was younger & video tape them off the tv  when they started the re runs , this was before DVD. then i would studdie them for differences in generals . you guys know much, much more a bout this than i do . but i also think i  remember seeing unaltered 68 tail lights  on a GL . i can not tell you what  one it was in ,but it might of been in the 3rd or 4th series .  also they used the same shot in a few other episodes  by memory.  this is not much help but .... it is were the film camera fixed in the middle of the dirt road . the dukes are either running from the cop's or rushing to get back to town . the GL drives  or does a tiny jump over the camera,  between the dust i am 99% sure  its 68 tail lamps .   like i say they used this clip a couple of times in different episodes .  if i had kept all the tapes i would look through them to find it  when i had the time :scope: :popcrn:  hope this  is of some help

man that sounds almost like the same scene I'm talking about but I don't think there was a road  but was more like in a feild next to the road. and they had the camera off behind the bushes so you couldn't see the ramp for the charger to jump from. Because soon as the rear tail panel came into the camera view they cut so that you wouldn't see it but there is a second of film that shows the tail panel an the tail lamps. When you say 3 or 4th series you mean 3 or 4th season, I'm going out on a limb here an going to say I think it was in probly season 4 where you seen that scene at.. but I won't say for sure though.

afew years ago i heard some guy saying that there is an episode somewhere that you can see the general with standard steel rims painted like 10 spoke vectors.....does anyone know if there is any truth to this? i think the guy that told me HATED the dukes so he could have just been blowing smoke but i don't remember all the details
Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....

nope I remembering hearing this also from another dukes fan either on the North American or the cglfc.com board, they was pose to be paint like the 10 spoke victors but was used on the stunt cars as people didn't take notice that much to the car rims but mostly to the car it self though.
