I am thinking about ordering the new formed hood insulation available for 71-74 B Bodies.  I was wondering if there is any difference between the underneath of a 73-74 Bulge Hood, compared a startand 71-74 B Body Hood and would all the insulation kits be the same?  Thanks.....

AKcharger

From what I've seen and heard bulge hoods did NOT have insulation. My '72 Ralley bulge hood has no supports to secure the pad in the middle like on my '70.

Now the odd thing is my fender tags shows under hood insulation???

Anyone else have diffrent info??

hemihead

I never saw a Bulge Hood with insulation.
Lots of people talkin' , few of them know

interesting...I could have sworn my original had it????

I think the hood support( Bracing) underneath is different between the 2 hoods.

Was your car originally from Canada?  This could be why it had insulation...

Anyone know?

It is a Cdn. car which might explain it- does anyone have a picture of the underneath (bracing) of a standard or SE hood that would help as I can compare to my bulge.  Thanks..

I'm pretty sure Bulged and flat hoods use same underframe/bracing.

Being same underframe then flat hoods doesn't have either a suport in the middle to clip on the insulation pad, so could be glued on that area.

Dunno about bulged hoods insulation pads original from factory. I think I saw one on internet, but could it be just added.
