I am curious how hard this 69 console conversion on 73 would be?

Ya I just had an idea that I think I'd prefer the big 68-70 woodgrain floor consoles over the 71-74s on my 73 SE and I'm curious to what it would take exactly on doing this and and how much bigger the dimensions are on the older consoles? Just curious I have a bunch of dreams but hey it would be different to see that console on a 73. Thank you if anybody can help me on my weird dreams or if it's not possible.

I think you would have to change the brackets on the trans tunnel and check the distance between the seats.  I don't know if the shifter mounts in a different spot but you may have to chenge those brackets too.
For all I know though, the brackets could be the same and its a direct bolt in.  But anything can be done if you are determined enough.

If you use the '67-70 style console, you will most assuredly need the matching shifter and linkages. I don't think it would be that difficult, honestly. But, then again, look at some of the ridiculous shiite I have already done to my car...
