I'm going to replace all the lifters on my 68 charger with a 383. some on them are making noise. my buddy told me that i can ruin the cam by putting new lifters in wit a old cam. Ever heard of this?

Rayzor

New lifters on a used cam in good shape should be ok if properly lubed and a cam breakin are run again. However, you may want to take a good look at your cam as it may have some lobes worn away causing the lifters to rattle. Worn rockers can also clatter pretty good.

I agree , new lifters on a used Cam is OK , old lifters on a new cam is a no no
