thanks.. that was a good article.  and now we know that the marker light lens was stripe color..  or thats what i will think anyways. :Twocents:

"(30) The left side rear marker reflector frame is the color of the stripe--NEVER the color of the car. Removal of paint from the reflector frame usually shows a different color underneath! This is the color of the car body. As with any car in 1969, the marker reflector frame and its gasket were installed after the outer body was primed and baked on, but before the car was color coated. This means that the gasket outer edge will have color coat on it. The lens will not be colored, because it was not installed until after the color coat was baked on. The lens would not have survived the heat of the baking oven. This rear marker lens appears to have four "segments" or "angles of reflection". It is not known if there is any correlation of a four-segment or a two-segment lens and being a Daytona."

Great article , outstanding !  I think he made one small error, he said the wing brace hardware is 1/4-20 , from what I have seen they are 5/16 .

I would not be surprised at all to find out they used both sizes of hardware, to be honest.  My car isn't around the shop here or I would go out and check it to see what it has.  I am quite certain that Creative Industries lived up to their name when it came to getting these cars built...  if they didn't have 1/4-20 handy right at that moment, grab what IS handy and Git-R-Done.

I studied all the pictures of the dressler daytona and pictures supplied .In comparision to what I seen on my old orig daytona. There were differences in details. It was good archive reference. Here some more acrhive material .You will see the original fanbelts 69 daytona annoucment brochure .And the license plate bracket I had on my car and a nos one differed from the one shown. My car had the seat buttons omitted. One the back on one side.

I believe the article to be written about the "Survivor" Daytona that Bob Malcom owns. It has the black fender scoops as well as being the low 6,800 mile range. From every photo I have of his car, it matches the photo's in the article.

I will say this, I have NEVER seen a Daytona with bezels painted body color. However a 500 is a completely different story.

hemigeno

I do think they used multiple cars to create the article.  My guess is that the upper shots mixed in with the text are from the Dressler car, and the batch of photos down below are from Bob & Sharon's car.  That's just a pure guess though.

Look at the two photos below from the article, and you can definitely see that they have two different subject cars:

nascarxx29

The car thats Malcoms was Tim Sparrows daytona of PA. And I had seen it before on many ocassions and seen somethings besides those scoops now that 69 500 pointed out as Malcoms car .If I recall correctly this car had owner installed large dodge letters on each quarter .And some underhood details.Maybe a aftermarket carb If my memory serves me right.Right after the article I had contacted Frank about the pictures in detail of the dressler daytona. But you had to pay for them something like a few hundred I believe

Your right Dave, about the vinyl graphics being on their Daytona at one time. If you look closely at the car from an angle you can still make out the outlines of the letters that used to be on the car.
Good eye on  the chalk markings on the wing braces there Gene, I missed that one.
