I've heard of Mushroomhead, but don't really know much about them.

Didn't they do the whole mask thing before Slipknot came along and got famous?

Seemed like quite a few mask/costume bands hit at the same time.

Slipknot, Mudvayne, Cradle of Filth...
Slipknot started the whole mask thing before Mushroomhead. Slipkont released their 1st album in 1996 Mushroomhead didnt until 1998 or 1999.

Slipknot's, "Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat.", was "97 and they were relative unknowns until the self-titled album hits stores.

Mushroomhead's, "Superbuick", came out in "96.

I just remember walking into the record store, buying, "Slipknot", and then being stunned once track 2 hit.

Great album.

Hell, I even took my mom to see 'em in "00. :METAL:

She's a percussion fan, so she was into it.

I just remember her asking me, "do they really have to swear so much?"  :icon_smile_big:

Yep!

I got to meet Jim (one of the guitar players) when I saw them in Seattle in "98.

Gave him a CD of the band I was in at the time.

Hell of a nice guy!  :yesnod:

Awsome :2thumbs: Ive never realy got to meet any band members :rotz:. I did meet Jamey Jasta (sp?) from hatebreed at Ozzfest in '04. Alot of my friends have hung out with GWAR after all of the 5 shows they played around here recently. I did get a thumbs up and a nod from James Hetfield Kirk Hammett and Lars when I went to see Metallica in Charlotte in Apr.'04. Some buddies of mine found an origional '86 Damage Inc. tour shirt on the floor and gave it to me, so when Metallica played Damage Inc. (the last song of the night) my buddy and I held up the shirt (since we were in the 3rd row) we got spot lighted and got the nods and thumbs up from them. It was so frickin cool, and I still have the shirt along with the 100 or so other music/band shirts.

Wow,
There are some true Metal Heads on the site. I am not for sure who was around 1st, Mushroomhead or Slipknot. I know that I am from Cleveland and was in a local band at the time and played a show with Mushroomhead and that was back in 94' before their 1st self titled CD was released. I have a copy and it is hard to find. I collect vinyl and CD's as well as Mopars.
I would sure love to have a copy of that 1st Slipknot(MFKR) on vinyl. Thanks for postingthe pic, I never knew it even existed.
Mushroomhead are talented and there was this war with Slipknot & Mushroomhead a few years back here in Cleveland. They both played an outdoor show together and the whole hate thing ended. Both bands have a stage show but play entirely different styles of Metal and each can hold their own very well.

I'm tempted to get into collecting vinyl.

Quite a few bands put more out on vinyl than CD.

At least ways that's how it is with the lesser known metal bands.

7"s and split discs seem to be the new cool thing.  :icon_smile_big:
