I may have really challanged myself on this one

I'll start by saying that I own my own hotrod shop and without trying to sound conceded, I'm pretty good at what I do. I typically make panels from scratch for cars that don't offer repro parts. I'm gonna do this car because I had a 70 Charger years ago that was a motor away from being really nice. I had to sell it when money got tight and I've been looking for another one ever since. This is the one that was on Racing Junk for $200. All the frame rails, inner fender wells and torsion bar cross member are perfect. It's an original 383 4-speed car which makes it a fun car. Like I said, I'm pretty good, but I may have bitten off more than I can chew on this one. I'll keep you posted, but don't expect alot of progress all at once on it. I have a 68 Chevelle SS ahead of it before I get crackin' on this one.

Speed\'s expensive, how fast do you want to go?

:o Nothing like a challenge.  It's nice see one being saved  Keep us posted!

If you save that you'll be a Charger God in my book.  And will be granted with the power of accepting tons of thumbs up and smiles from bypassers when it is roadworth.

I don't think it is too bad to fix, but I have been known to buy worse Chargers than that.  The rust issues will take some time to get done correctly, but it will be worth it (to drive) in the end if you can save it.......

Hot rod shop. Meaning 100% auto body and or mechanical also? Thats a pretty rusty charger. It would advisable to have it either sand blasted top to bottom or acid dipped. If you do neither of those, that car won't last even after you do whatever type of restoration to it. I'm a bodyman/painter as well, 20 plus years. Thats a start, but like you said, it ain't gonna be done anytime soon according to your statement. From the looks of the photo, quarters, rear frame rail tie bar, most likely outer wheel houses, trunk pan, tail light panel repair or replacement, sail panels, possible floor pan or pans. And the hidden repairs as well behind the rusted out parts won never expects. Nevermind the fitment time of the rest of the car. A good two to three weeks worth of hard work. Thats just the welding/fab part, not bondo or finish work before primer mind you. Good luck

The hard part is finding all the parts that are missing. I assume it's going to be a custom?

It ain't gonna be a concours resto for sure!! Plans include a splayed five link rear suspension, 4 wheel disc brakes, new model 5.7L hemi and a 6 -speed. Tin interier and dash. Racing buckets and autocross-type cage. I'm gonna try to make this pig do a "G" on the skid pad, do the 1/4 in 13 seconds and get 18-20 mpg. All with A/C on and the tunes cranked up. It's gonna be a rolling business card for the shop to take to shows.

BTW, my shop does it all. Drive train, suspensions and paint, body and fab.

The great thing about B-bodies is you can at least get reproduction sheetmetal for at least HALF of the car!

Akcharger. Thanks for the link. I lost that web info. when I changed computers. We cut a 4 door Coronet in half and installed it back together w/a Coronet that was totaled in the front half from a train wreck. Just a 383 car, but the guy wanted it fixed. Took the roof off, cut the floor pan section in half. Installed the rear half of the 2 door into place from wrecked car, and three months later it was driving again. Coronet is now in Oregon. Color is vit. C and the guy drivers it every chance he can still. There are still a few body techs out there up for the challenge!

MAN DADS69 i am coming to you to do my bodywork when i get a car :yesnod:

That car is about the same shape as mine. I don't plan on taking the roof off mine, though. I do need the top of the 1/4 on the driver's side. Mine is destroyed from rust. All the aftermarket 1/4's I can find are just skins and don't come with this part. I guess I'll have to show you guys that I really can fab my own sheet metal parts, and make my own. After a while, it's a matter of worth. By the time I get it all done, I could've bought something nicer. But like I said, I'm doing this as a rolling advertisement for the shop. Thanks for the encouragement guys, I'll keep you posted. In the mean time, here is the Olds Cutlass I traded out at the beginning of last year. I bought this car for $150 with a blown up 3.8L V-6 and Th200 slipomatic and put this together in about 5 weeks, including paint.

Dayumm! :o
See, it's threads like this that make it unbearable for me to hack up my parts car any more than it is. :'(

Good luck with your project & make sure to show some pics when you get going on it. :yesnod:

The Aquamax...yes, this bike spent 2 nights underwater one weekend. (Not my doing), but it gained the name, and has since become pseudo-famous. :)

Sorry CP, you don't the funds for me to restore a car for you. Find a driver is my advice to you. The owner spent 19 grand for what we did.
