Plastic shields by strut rods

There are hard plastic shields just to the inside of the front strut rods on the 2nd generation cars.   The ones on my car are held in place by heavy pop rivets.  Is this correct, or should they be bolted on to the body?

That explains why I searched my garage in vain last night looking for the screws or bolts to hold them on.

Also explains the lack of threads in the frame holes.


I might be tapping some threads and using small bolts. :scratchchin:

i done the same  , makes for easy access to stuff  , i use self tapping hex heads ,  same ones that hold the starter / trans linkage shield to the drivers side frame rail
