I bought a 69 charger that came with the 383 but it was long gone.  What would be the best way on trying to find the motor.  The guy i bought it from says the motor was gone when he bought it and has no way of contacting the prev's owner.  I live in washington state and i figure it might still be here since the title was originaly titled here in the 70's or so, is what the prev's title told me.

Thanks

Not sure about how to find it but I have heard that you could get a properly date coded motor and the have a machine shop or engine shop grind off the old numbers and put different ones on.  Just a thought in case your just wanting the car to be numbers matching.

You might just want to stick to finding your old one or going with a date coded block. Changing the serial numbers on a block could get you 2 to 5. It is a felony to acid off the old numbers and fictitiously represent the car as numbers matching. With that out of the way, was it a 383 magnum car? You would be surprised how little the resale value changes on these cars without the numbers engines. As long as its a 318 or 383 2 bbl car. It will be a cool challange to find the original, but don't forget to relax and have fun with the car.
If it ain't wide open; it ain't running.        Rule number one in motocross racing: Pin it; row the gear box; and wait until you hit something.     At work my motto is: If you need me, call someone else.
