What kind of job Machine shops make on Engine parts when they are rebuilding. I mean I know about grind crank journals, install cam bushings, Bore Cilinders. I have read lots about balancing job, but:

where they need balance? what is involved on balance job ? when you need balance ?

Ghoste

Does this mean you are preparing for a rebuild Nacho?

Not me, is just try to get knowledgement to a very future stroker job ( 451 ) IF I FIND a 440 crank locally. My engine just have around 12K miles from last rebuilt on 2001 ( sleeved engine to standart bore ).

On those days was cheaper and easier to me sleeve the engine and use a standart bore pistons I got from a donor engine I got allmost for free, than try to get new pistons and rings 030 bore. Hard to get here and not cheap. I was out of job on those days. In fact I reused crank, cam, pushrods, tappets, rockets and shaft from donor engine... was a very low miles one. I didn't balanced anything since all internal parts were from one engine to other, so supposelly it should be balanced on donor engine. Also used the donor engine balancing damper. So that's the reason I didn't know about balancing job. was just a remove and install job made by myself. Was my first engine job and even mechanic job.

Beside that I'm trying to help a buddy's mine that does need a rebuilt job
