I think you're gonna have a lot of problems getting people to publicly post their VIN numbers.... but good luck any way.

FYI: Registries are great for that sort of data.

You sure that's not a "U" instead of a "V" for engine? I mean, if it is for real, you have a 1 of 1 six pack '72 Charger SE....  Sure it's not a "U" code 440 4bbl car?

WH23 would probably be a Rallye Charger. WP29 would be an SE. Could be a Six-Pack Rallye.

I'll believe that one when I see a lot more documentation - and even then, I'd be skeptical.  The few '72s that I have heard went out the door were all early-built cars if I remember right.  That's not an early car.

Something just doesn't smell right.  If the broadcast sheet is available as you say, post a pic.  There are a lot of clues about that car's engine pedigree that can be found on a broadcast sheet besides the VIN number.

I agree...MUCH more documentation is needed to verify. It has been proven that VINs can be made to look like ANYTHING. Can not trust VINs alone...too many counterfits.

It's great that you have a Charger as your first car! Good luck with it, I hope you post a ton of pictures as you go along. You will find that everyone here is eager and willing to help along the way. Since this is your first car, I am going to take a leap of faith here and assume that your experience with Chargers and Mopars in general is limited. I would like to offer some constructive criticism to you to help you in understanding the different personalities in this hobby. When you state that you own a car that there is a lot of controversy around (ie 6 pack 72) you have to expect some questions about its authenticity.  There is a TON of knowledge on this site and when we see someone make a statement such as yours, we expect to see more then just VIN information to establish the car's pedigree. If you are fairly new to the hobby, we can understand your enthusiasm and your lack of understanding of the particulars within the hobby in general. You have to understand that those of us that have been "around" have heard and seen it all. We have seen time and again unsubstantiated claims of Hemi this and 6 pack that.  Fraud is rampant in this hobby and it is fairly easy to the knowing eye to spot it. Perhaps if you listed the codes in the data tag or posted a copy of the build sheet along with your VIN information it would take some of the skepticism out of your claim. Do to the level of BS claims that have been perpetrated in the past, I'm sure you can understand that when someone makes a claim that they own a legitimate 72  6 pack Rally Charger, A lot of people would greet that claim with a certain amount of skepticism.  It sounds like you have a nice car worthy of a first class restoration, however as for your claim of it being a legitimate 6 pack car we would need to see a whole lot of other information before it could be believed. Please don't try to pass off something as noteworthy as this if it isn't true. You would be hurting only yourself.  Good luck with your project, I for one would like to see some pictures. It sounds like you have a nice 440 Magnum Rally Charger.

Hemidoug

Well, OK then! I'm sure I'm not the only one who can't wait to see this car legitimized. I hope you can back up the can of worms you are about to open. Many people have had their reputations tarnished for less..... :o

I would suggest you be prepaired to provide ALL (yes ALL) the following information in order to be taken seriously....

Broadcast
Picture of VIN
Picture of Data tag
Picture of underside of K frame
Picture of the front spring hangers
Picture of frame rails next to rear spring hangers
Picture of underside of floor just above the rear U joint
Is it a 4 spd car? If so, please provide picture of the vin stamping on the Dana rear.
Part numbers of both r and l torsion bars
Part numbers of both r and l rear springs
What size fuel lines are in the car?
Does it have the numbers matching motor?
Size / Part number stamped in Oil Pan
Part number of radiator

You can get the part numbers off the broadcast....or better yet just provide the broadcast!

We can go from there.............

Fake?        Fake?     Did somebody say fake?

Sometimes it just really doesn't matter, does it.

Why would you want anything else?  Just give me a Charger and I'll be happy.
