I Have a 1978 318Ci and I was wondering if it was any good for my 74 charger. Also would any of you know any specs of the 318.

318s are a good resiliant engine. In a charger they seem doggish, mostly because they lack the lower end torque that a big block offers.
I dont have any specs because I dont know what year 318 it is, they varied greatly from year to year.

it came out of a 1978 Plymouth Volare and its a 2 barrel

then unfortunately its going to be a low performance motor, not good for much more than 120-130 HP. the biggest problem is that your car wouldnt be a tire smoking machine, but it would make for a pretty decent daily driver. when i had my 318 in my 74, i would get around 17-19 mpg on the highway, but getting up to speed took awhile. now i have a 440 which gets up to speed fast like, but i get about 5-8 mpg. all about trade offs

it won't be much for power but lots of durability,  You gotta shoot a 318 to kill it.

not true. you could probably just run it out of oil. or give it to my sister, she can kill anything automotive. :icon_smile_big:

I have a 78 318 in my Fury and it's God awful slow.  Bump the compression, use better heads and a good cam and you'll make some power but stock I wouldn't reinstall it in a leaf blower.
