i have recently replaced my old stock 440 torque convertor with a new one as it was worn out, but the new one is a fair bit smaller and lighter than the old stocker, so, my question is- will the torque of the engine be reduced as basicaly the flywheel is now lighter, although the engine is a lot more responsive on the throttle, or will there be no difference?
thanks

a smaller converter will usually have a higherstall speed so yes you lose some torque but you get more RPM due to the higher stall before load is applied to the engine , it  will perform better

This one of those "gain some, lose some" issues. You lose the "flywheel effect" of the inertia in the larger converter but you actually gain torque due to the higher stall ratio of the smaller converter.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
