My brother and I have a '69 Charger R/T, triple black, # matching, california car :o. I was wondering what it was worth. It is an un-restored car with only one blemish on the drivers side lower quarter by the wheel well. The paint is slightly bubbled in that spot. The car had two fender tags and has everything but a moon roof. It has a 440, and is a stripe delete car. Anyone have any thoughts?
Thanks in advance for any replys,
Bill

Joshua

Put it on E-Bay with a HIGH reserve and see what it get bids to.
Values change by the MINUTE....... :-\

The folks here will need photos to be accurate.  They may be able to put a "ballpark" value on it but in the end, it' only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.   :yesnod:

Sounds like it could be a pretty neat car, even though I am not a fan of black, black and black.

There was a fellow on the old site named SteveCA that also had a '69 triple black stripe delete R/T needing work on the driver's quarter (it was dented pretty good) and he was pondering selling it way back when.  I can't recall the prices though.   :shruggy:

Either way, they best way to put a value on it is to see what is out there that is comparable and go from there.  Check the usual spots and let us know what you intend to do.

Post some pics for all to enjoy and don't forget to register it at the '69 Charger Registry.

Guys, I just got a wild hair up-you know where, ;) and thought I might dangle this out there. We have no intention of selling it, I just thought it might be fun to see where this might go. :icon_smile_big:

Just an aside, not to be insulting... You got a wild hare (as in rabbit) up you-know-where. Common mistake to those who are not true Hilligans... ;D  Definitely sounds like a sweet ride.  Good luck, and post lots of pics ASAP.

I would love to see a pic of the 2 tags!   Not often you see a loaded up Charger like that.

Please take the time to register the car as well

Nice. So let's see a pic of this alleged car you own. I also would love to see the 2 fender tags. Tick, tick, tick...

Well, I'm willing to go out on a limb here.  Based on your description only, and assuming your being honest about it, I'd say its worth approximately $32,000.  :stirthepot:

I'll give him $6,400 and hope he's real stupid

OK guys, I would love to post some pics. But I only have the use of a Government computer, and they will not let me post pictures. Now I might be able to get someone else get some pics for me and post them, I will see.
Last year at our local car show, I saw a double black Charger R/T with a 383, that the guy was asking $29,000 for. It was a nice car but not optioned as ours is.
Let me list some of the options, Vinyl top, Leather, 6-way drivers seat, Rallye dash, Rear window defogger, Power windows, Bucket seats, Floor shifter, Sure grip, Belt mouldings, Road wheels, Twin snorkel, Air Cond., Power disc, brakes, Power steering, Stripe delete, Chrome tips, AM/FM, Rear speakers.

Believe this or not, this car was ordered by a older woman, and then not driven that much. I think we are the third owners.

Sounds like a very nice car Bill.  Having all of those extra options definately help.  How many miles are on the car now?  How well does it run?  What does it need mechanically to be in tip top shape?  How good is the interior and what would that need?  How well is it documented?  How unmolested is it?

The '69 R/T you saw with the 383 in it either wasn't a real R/T or it no longer had its original engine.  R/T's did not come with 383's.  (Did he actually get $29,000?  Or was he just asking for it?)

I wish my car had as many options are your's.  That sounds like a pretty rare ride. Based on those and assuming sound engine and good interior, I'd raise my value to $35,000.  Now of course, if you performed a ground up restoration, then that value is way to low.

If your asking what its worth as a way to know how much insurance to put on it, then that's where I would put it.  Take into consideration however the great difficulty you would have in finding another one equally optioned to replace yours should something happen to it.

Alright this is the straight poop. The car was purchased at the Pamona Swap Meet in 1991. The guy that had it was given the choice by his Wife, sell the Camero or the Charger, guess what he sold. When my brother saw it he called me to ask about the engine ID. I told him which side to look for them. He got it mixed up and looked on the wrong side. He told the Chevy guy that it wasn't a # matching car and he would only give him $8,500 for it.
My brother called me back after he closed the deal and told me it wasn't a # matching car, he looked on the wrong side of the engine, guess what? It was a # matching car. The O.D. only showed around 35,XXX.
There are a few things wrong with the car. It has the wrong vinyl top, but we have the correct one in the trunk. The engine used a lot of oil on the drive from CA. so I figured the engine really had 135,XXX.
I pulled the engine out and sent it to a local maching shop. The block was bored .030, Real Mopar 9.1 pistons were installed, a Purple Shaft cam was also installed, along with new lifters and a double roller timing chain set. The heads are 906, reworked. Bronze guides and all New valves, springs and locks. The short block was balanced and the rods were sized.
The trans. was already rebuilt by the Chevy guy and a New firm feel steering box was installed by him.
The body is straight as a string. It has a New headliner in the trunk also, although the one that is in it is just fine.
The car runs like a stripped assed ape. Really fast. It will cruise all day at 90.
That's about it guys. Oh, it has New carpet, the tips were new also.

With the dual snorkel air cleaner, did the car have A/C? And I'm also guessing that since your in California that it had the N95 package, which would include the turn down exhaust tips.

Sounds like a great ride. Not often you see a 2 tag charger. come to think of it, I can't think of a single one.

RT

Just curious......what is the code for a dual snorkel air cleaner?

Danny for '69 there is no N95 package to my knowledge.  I believe the actual code for the dual snorkel & the turn downs is N97 for the Noise Reduction Package
The dual snorkel air cleaner was silenced & the turndowns muffled the exh sound further.
I believe '70 started the Cali emissions N95 package which included the extra vapor venting on the fuel tank as well as a different valve cover breather.   Thhis was strictly for emissions reducing purposes.

Also I have found that there isnt an actual "spot" for the N97 option on the Broadcast sheet.   Looking at the "N" codes on the sheet pictured below (sorry for the poor quality) you will see a "7" in a blank box.   This car was on ebay recently (69 R/T from Cali unrestored) Had A/C, dual snorkel & turndowns.
Below that pic is a better close up pic of a different sheet just so you can see the "blank" box I am referring to (this car has no "7" in it)  You'll see that "N96" would be the last box on the sheet with no spot for N97 (or N95 for that matter)

Small disclaimer-----I am in no way an expert on this stuff but I'm going by observation only. ;)

Wrong again am I. :) Man no luck lately.

I'll swing over to a house nearby and check out his broadcast sheet as his Charger R/T has the dual snorkel, and the turn down pipes. It was sold new in California as well. I thought his did have the code on the broadcast sheet, or possibly the window sticker. I'll check, maybe this weekend, if he is home.

69_500

Just out of curiosity, but chris, have you seen any broadcast sheets that actually have any notes in the 11th row? That is the only spot I can think of where you could see N97. Just a thought.

Well since you're swingin' by bring a camera with ya and one of my cards ;) ;)

As of yet I havent seen any codes listed on line 11 of any 69 Charger sheets yet.   Never say never though.   Who knows we both might be wrong

Found another ex of the N97 package.....although this car is a 383 XP car sold in VA

Note the "7" in the N section as well as the option on the window sticker....(also note that this was a no cost option??)

I just registered the car. My brother has the car over at his house and I just got off the phone with him. He indicated to me that the car only has One fender tag. I got it mixed up with a two fender tag Challenger I had. Sorry guys, I was only going on MEMORY. Since I'm OLD my mind screwed me up. I asked him to pop the hood to make sure and to write down the fender tag codes and call me so I can post them.
I will have to check on the chrome tip thing, if memory serves me, in '69 CA. didn't allow tips, that the exhaust had to be turned down. If so then the tips were added on later by someone, probably the second owner. When we got the car it had some aftermarket tips, which I took off and put the correct ones on.
It is a true A/C car with tinted glass, and the A/C is all there. The disc brakes are the Bendix 4 piston calipers, which are pretty rare.

Sounds alot like my old Bronze R/T SE  AC, PW, Bendix, turn-downs, dual snorkel,  etc...
