Daddy ran whiskey in a big black dodge
bought it at an auction at the masons lodge,
Johnson County Sherriff painted on the side,
just shot a coat of primer then he looked inside,
well him and my uncle tore that engine down,
I still remember that rumblin' sound.....

they will flow very good out of the box - if you feel motivated enough - you can have them ported and polished....     not much else to do really...      chryco and firefighter will have ideas im sure

Rolling thunder is correct....the e-heads are very good right out of the box. I would take them to a machinist and have the guides checked for clearance (a few are allways tight) and a competition valvejob done with a 28* back cut to the valves. The backcut really helps with the low to mid lift flow #'s and you will pick up at least 10cfm across the board all the way up to .600 lift. Further porting will yield increased flow and consequently....more power.

The guides, valvejob and backcut i would consider as a minumum.  ;)

do not use stock rocker arms , ductile or rollers will have a more accurate ratio = more lift
port the lip out inside the ports where the cnc machining stops
check the piston to valve clearance it will make more power with un-bent valves
