I have a 68 Charger R/T and some of the emblem paint is faded or come off of the fuel cap and the R/T badges.  Can I just repaint them on the car?  If so where can I get the paint?

I've had success using a fine brush and model paint in the past.

Not forever.  Mine need to be redone again.  The car spends most of it's time in a non-climate controlled garage.  I drive it around 2 or 3 thousand miles a year and it has been caught in the rain a few times.  It's been about 8 or 9 years since I last did them.  I'm in southwestern Ontario so think Michigan-Ohio type of weather.

I have had various Australian Mopars over the years, and I always found it very easy to redo the badges myself. If the chrome is good, it's merely a case of using a black enamel and going for it. Generally, if badges had black outlines I would just spray the whole badge with gloss  black enamel in a spray can, and then carefully wipe the top with thinners on a rag.

Always came up good. As for parts that may need something a little finer than the spray can, application with a brush is just as good. I have since found that sometimes it can also be good to let the badge dry and then clear edges with a good razor blade.

Sometimes jobs which seem like they need a lot of care are actually pretty easy. Do the badges yourself. the worst that happens is you have to put them in paint stripper.

Use a decent paint though - nothing mega-dollars, just a decent spray can - no 50 cent specials. The better the paint, the longer and better the finish.

Go to the local craft supply and get a paint pen. Then go to any Hobby shop and find the model paint in the color you want.
