thnx, my dads 68 has a 69 engine and a few big mopar ,guys and mechanics wanna get their hands on it, nothing special justa high hp 440  compared to what they own or can build easily( 6-packs,hemis etc.) so we would like 2 find the significance of our motor could it be a daytona or 500 motor maybe? we dont know, but a Big mopar guy(good friend) here who collects rare mopar stuff wants it bad and was willing to trade his 1970 original 440-6pack motor for it-MATT

TNT300

Pass side of the block , along the oil pan rail. just rearward of the right engine mount. Depending on the date and plant it could be just the last 8 or as much as the entire vin

aka gtx6970

THE CHARGER PUNK

going to check out vin today but it is in fact a 69 440 so it is out of someones R/T may it be a coronet or a charger or even a cop car, also info from past owner, the engine was found in detroit and built up by a company called muscle motors i think or muscle-city motors? cant remember name-MATT

Ghoste

Muscle Motors is out of Lansing, Michigan and they specialize in Mopar big blocks so there could be something to that.

Ghoste

It used to be owned by Chuck Senatore but I think he sold it a couple of years back.  Still a quality place though.  In addition to race engines, their other forte has always been strokers complete or in kit form.

this topic of reuniting numbers correct to original car is starting to over take my intentions with my car , even know my car is over here in Australia there's a good chance motor is maybe here , my question is how do find out your original engine number is so you can look for it, roads authority has stated to me that they could do a search and see if its recorded as in use in a registered vehicle over here, long shot but worth a try, and yes I do have my car registered with charger registry

I don't have my original block , so they should have the vin on them as engine number ? Or am I missing something ,

A '68 and later could have three different stamped numbers...the VIN down by the pan rail or top rear of the block, the build data on the top pad and, in some cases, an engine serial number stamped in the pan rail below the starter. The VIN and the engine serial number will be unique to one block only but the build data on the top pad could be common to any number of engines built on a particular day.

'67 and earlier will not have a stamped VIN.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
