I am converting my column shifted automatic to an original style console automatic. One part I have not acquired for the conversion is the reverse light switch that attaches to the shifter bracket.

Are these switches reproduced? What are my options?

Thanks,

Chris

you can use the  pin switch on the tranny & wire it that way if it has the correct valve body in the tranny to work with the  pin switch

being a 69, you should have a NSS on tranny with three pins that turns on the reverse lamps.

Thanks for the replies.

As I do not have much experience with transmissions, I am confused.

Chryco, do you have any pictures of the pin switch? Where is it located?

Nacho, what does NSS stand for. My Charger is a '68 with a 727 auto, if that helps.

Thanks,

Chris

histoy

Chris,

NSS stands for Neutral Safety Switch

Just 6T9 CHGR

IIRC,  the 68's need the switch that mounts to the shifter......They pop up from time to time on ebay......

Do you have a picture of this switch? I do not know what it looks like.

Since my Charger is a '68, it sounds like the current column shift should have a separate reverse light switch mounted in the steering column. Is this adaptable to the console?

Chryco Psycho

the 3 pin NSS is located just behind the shift lever on the left side of the tranny just above the pan rail

Thanks, I'll check it out this weekend.

Only late '68 had the 3-prong NSS and it can't simply be installed in an earlier transmission.

Most '68 console equipped cars had the shifter-mounted switch pictured below. Original P/N is 2631039.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
