But the gist of the article was the reason for the ban was not because they think that contact games are bad for kids, it is because they are afraid of getting SUED because Johnny got hurt running around on the playground. Chalk one up to the fear of lawyers and to frivolous lawsuits, But that is another can of worms.

To answer Kims question even though the ban is not because some lefty school board said that running and playing tag promotes competition and this is bad for kids because those who are deemed "it" will have their feelings hurt. The reason they get their feelings hurt is because they are being singled out for being "it" due of their lack of physical prowess, it causes them to be tagged and be made "it". Their lack of speed is the reason they could not out run the bigger and stronger kids and thereby being tagged makes them feel inadequate physically, and we don't want little Johnny to have his feelings hurt. (this arguement, by the way, I have heard put forth and it comes from lefty education professors and educators)

But all that being said it can also be safely assumed that the teachers and administrators in this particular school system are lefty anyway.

Since most of you on this site don't have kids in the public school system I'll clue you in, the VAST majority (not all) of the teachers and school boards in this country are overwhelmingly liberal and left leaning in their politics. From teachers unions to school boards as a whole they support Democrats, work for Democrats, vote Democrat I hear radio spots all the time sponsored by the teachers union stumping for every Democratic candidate that ever ran in the state of Ohio, and are as a whole on the left side of the political spectrum.  One of the biggest donors to the Democratic party is the teachers union. So it's pretty safe to assume that this article written about a school system in Massachusetts who elects people as Ted Kennedy, Barny Frank and John Kerry to government I would hazard a guess the people who implemented this policy are on the left side of the political spectrum.

Take it from someone who has to deal with public school educrats and a school board on a monthly basis and has to worry about some liberal school administrator educrat who has decided that people are too stupid to teach their own children without the oversite of a omniscient and omnipresent benevolent school board to tell them how to do it, because those who teach their own children in stead of sending them to a public school are a menace to society.

I heard a story similar to this out of CA a few years back.

It was around the same time a school in New England stated that they will no longer keep score during school sporting events as the losing team could have emotional distress from being lableled "losers".

Tag is for sissies anyway.    When I was a kid in NYC, we played a game called "Hot Peas & Butter" (I have no idea where the name came from.) Someone would hide a belt, & you'd go hunt for it. We used to play tackle football on the asphalt playground in the winter time and you would hope that you were in a couple inches of snow when you got tackled, otherwise it hurt like hell.

Pretty soon all kids will have to stay home for fear of getting exposed to other kids and we will have a generation of kids that have no other friends besides a keyboard and a computer screen.

I was one of those kids who always got tagged because of my lack of physical prowess, or was always picked last for any games....I made up for it by thinking of how to nail them without having to go all out though.  (they never tagged me on purpose again )

Why not tell the truth that you are a bitter old under educated codger who blames everything on liberal boogie men as a kneejerk reflexive reaction rather than trying to discover the truth about certain situations.  It's much easier, isn't it, to willy nilly point fingers at convenient targets rather than doing some research and independent thinking.  When was the last time you ran for the school board or, better yet, the last school board meeting you went to.  I bet you can't even name a member of your school board.  Old people must take joy in sitting on their hands yet pointing fingers while doing nothing.
